TPMs light on and Spare tires

2004 v6 SR5. Sister said the TPMs sensor had gone bad so she had it "disabled" a couple years ago and it's been always on ever since. I read on the forum that blinking light means malfunctioning such as bad sensor and steady light means low pressure, so I pumped up all the tires including the spare to 35 PSI today, but the TPMs light is still on.

I know there are methods to bypass the system so the TPMs light would be OFF. But, what kind of tinkering would make the light stay on?

I kind of suspect that the light went on due to low pressure in spare tire but whoever tried to solve the problem didn't know that and just did something to keep the light on.

Also, the metal piece that hold the spare tire in place is really rusty. I am afraid of it breaking and dropping the spare tire on highway! The cable is in pretty good condition though so can I just replace that piece? Anyone know where I can find a cheap fix/replacement for it?

It's easy. Did it over a year ago.And you can use normal valve stems now.

Have an '06 4runner and recently had the TPMS blinker start flashing....I had this be before and found a utube reset that had me turn key on and do something...but can't seem to find it...does anyone know how to do the reset with an '06 4 runner without the reset button???
And, yes all tires (including spare are checked and good) Makes me frustrated that the utube post with the reset has been removed!
