TPMS programming question

Recently my TPMS light went on solid. The shop said I had a nail in the tire and patched it. Light is still on. Went back and we checked the air pressure on all 4 tires plus the spare and the light is still on. After reading this thread, I'll assume that one, or all, of my sensors are dead or dying.
Question, I recently bought wheels/tires from a 2018 T4R owner who is upgrading all his wheels. If I put these "new" wheels/tires on my 07, will the TPMS system read the sensors from these newer wheels? Or, is the new set of wheels/tires not compatible with my 07 system so I'll either have to live with the light on all the time or disable the system?

I can't say on the 2018, I looked at Denso sensors and their website had no listing for the 2018 yet, but the 2016 4Runner uses the same sensor as the 2007, the 2017 however has a different part number, but the frequency is the same (315MHz) and also the pressure range as the 2007 and 2016, not sure what the difference is.
That being said I still think that the 20018 may work IF they use the same frequency, pressure range, etc,....but they would have to be programmed or cloned to the TPMS ECU, because the sensors you have now are programmed and they would have to be deleted or the 2018 sensors cloned to their programming.
To do the programming or cloning you would need a TPMS programming tool to do it.

Yeah, Denso 550-0103 for alloy wheels, and 550-0102 have the shorter stem, for the steel wheels. :hat:

Wow, thanks for that link. Tired of looking at the blinking cluster light.. Been like that for years.

My 2007 has had the solid TPMS light on for a year or so. I decided that while I was getting new tires, might as well replace those sensors. After the tire/sensor swap the light was still on solid and the tire shop said my OBDII connector was broken and couldn't make them work. So I took it to a trusted shop and the OBDII scans fine, they reset the code the TPMS had been throwing and the light is now off (YEA!!!!). Now the problem is if I lower the pressure in any of the 5 tires the light never comes back on or flashes. WTF???? Went back to the tire shop and their scanner (held next to sensor, not attached to OBDII) shows each sensor working showing the actual pressure ( we lowered one to 15psi). But still no light or warning. Wondering if they put the wrong kind of sensor in, some other reset/reprogramming needs to be done to make the light come on when the psi goes south. I can live with it not working but did I just pay 200$ to have the light turn off?
