TPMS Question

Hello small question. Can you buy a tpms set of 2 and leave it inside the truck to not have to reprogram/ change everytime you switch wheels ? I have 2 set of wheels and one doesnt have tmps on them.

I'm not really sure what you are asking but i will try to help. If the sensors can be swapped from one set of rims to the next you don't have to reprogram. If the sensors are away from the car or inside the car (just sitting in your cup holder) but not mounted to the tires they will not work. New sensors have to be programed. Only 5 sensors per car.

I've seen people program them and make a TPMS bomb with pvc pipe and people put them inside a small tractor tire and keep them in the truck if that's what your asking......

Not true with the 5 sensors per car on 5th Gens as the TPMS ECU only registers 4......been there done that and been discussed a dozen times here on the forum!

Honestly now that i think about it I never really got into checking the spare tires on 5th gens. Just assumed they are like the 4th gens.
