TPMS question

Hi, folk. I'm planning to replace all TPMS sensors. Do I need a set of 4 or 5? Does the tpms light on the board show for 4 wheels or spare too? If the sensor in the spare is not there or doesn't work would the indicator blink? Thank you

You need 5, yes there's one on the spare and if the spare is low on air it will trigger the light.

Yes, you will need 5 sensors.

Hopefully you will have better luck than I did. I replaced all 5 a few weeks back, programmed successfully with TIS, all worked great then that dang light came back on. Since then, I've tried numerous times to get my laptop and TIS to communicate with the TPMS module without any luck (all other modules communicate OK). I ended up biting the bullet and bypassing the system. I should've done that in the first place and saved some $$.

I unplugged the tpms ecu by glove box 24 hrs actually maybe like 72 (getting old senior moment) plugged back in haven't looked back 12k later no probs !

Probably too late now but you can try airing down each tire, fill them back up and that should wake-up the sensors. Had a friend with this problem on his Highlander.

I did try that, unfortunately, it didn't work though. I didn't cut any wiring when I bypassed the TPMS system so it's completely reversible if I need to.

My TPMS story.....

.....is like many others.

Dash light would not go out, after checking air in all five tires.

While having my tires rotated, at Discount Tire, I had them check all five TPMS sensors. The passenger front sensor had a dead battery..........so $74, and a new sensor, later.....all is well.

Easy.....peezy. Or maybe I just got lucky.

BTW, mine is a 2008 Sport V8 2WD.
