Traction Boards Mounted to Factory Rails?

I'm planning to mount my traction boards to my factory rails. Has anyone done this? Any tips or suggestions?

It seems pretty straightforward by wanted to check to see if anybody else had come up with a good solution that will allow the boards to be secure and easily available if needed.

if you are trying to do this cheaply just use threaded rod or a long bolt and bolt them to the cross bars

So I assume you drill a hole in each cross bar?

Yes.

I wouldn't advise this if you're planning on putting allot of weight afterward on the crossbars. I wasn't, I use them for the maxtrax and sometimes snowboards/ski carriers.

Victory 4x4 makes these crossbars, that work with the factory rails. To me, these would be a versatile solution that offers many mounting options.

I like those. I also like the Hi Lift mount they have on a pic that displays both the Max Trax and the Hi Lift. Anyone know what that mount is they are using?

LFD makes their own hi lift mount. I have it and it’s a quality piece. No rattling from the jack when mounted up.

it's their own hi-lift mount, it works really well:

i use a normal nut instead of the supplied wing nut just to dissuade casual theft, i don't care enough to lock it up but i figure the nuts will at least prevent crimes of opportunity (and even when i lived downtown i would leave it on the roof plenty and it was never an issue)

Our crossbars are easy to install and very low profile. They are much stronger than the factory bars, so if you end up wanting to run heavier gear, you won't have to upgrade. Our lead times are currently only 1-2 weeks! We will have accessory mounts coming out soon but your mounting hardware should work on its own. :thumb3:

Our crossbars are easy to install and very low profile. They are much stronger than the factory bars, so if you end up wanting to run heavier gear, you won't have to upgrade. How about wind noise? Noticeable compared to factory rails?

No problem, I never had factory crossbars but there was no added wind noise going from no crossbars to ours. :thumb3:
