Traction Control Malfunction???

Lately my traction control has been engaging when I am turning at slower speeds (15-20mph). For example, while in a neighborhood and making a right turn, the traction control will beep, the light will flash, and the brakes will lightly engage. This will happen when I'm in the latter part of the turn after I begin to hit the gas again.

Does anyone have this same issue? I hope I did a decent job explaining the issue, but if anyone needs any further clarification, please let me know.

Are they dirt roads, or wet? Could be hard acceleration (4runners are heavy/fast enough to throw the back around). Otherwise, it sounds like a wheel speed sensor fault.

Also, what gear oil are you running in the rear diff? Just a hunch I have...

It's happening on dry paved roads, which is why it concerns me.

Also, what gear oil are you running in the rear diff? Just a hunch I have...

Mobil 1 75W-90, replaced roughly 10,000 miles ago.

is your steering wheel perfectly centered? this is a common problem on Jeep JK's, not sure about 4R's. traction control kicks in because it appears that the steering wheel is turned more than it really is, yet the vehicle is going straighter than it should.

I have the same problem after lifting my truck but the difference is that the traction control on my does not light-up. I got also my attention, since it happens even in dry road this happens:cry2:. TSee below for my post.

I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem. My steering wheel is "perfectly" centered and I did get a true alignment (not a "green and go") after I installed my lift and tires.

It does only happen on sharp turns, and only when I am hitting the gas.

I'm taking my truck into the dealer next week and I'll see if they have a fix for this issue. I'll keep you guys posted.

This **** has been plagueing a lot of the people and it is really pissing me off. Toyota is a full of **** company that puts all these bull**** systems in place to satisfy govt criterion so that it looks good on paper. When the electronics fail as they do with the piece of **** Made in Mexico parts, you are at the mercy of the dealer with their bull**** service charges to tell you that you will need a $1000 part with $500 labor and only they can do it because they are the only ones that can flash the software. I say **** that! My 2nd gen is so god damn reliable and never makes driving more dangerous like this electrical infested computer of an SUV.

Awesome rig, but Toyota ****ed up big time with the vsc and all that ****.

Sorry to hear of your electrical failures on SAFETY systems that are making your rig more DANGEROUS!
