I have an 05 V6, part time 4wd with 62k on it. Yesterday about 5 different warnig lights came on. CEL, low tire pressure, traction control, VSC and I think another one. Tire pressure is fine but I notice the traction control does not come work.

Any thoughts as to cause and possible fix? I would imagine they are all related but the damn dash board is lit up like a x-mas tree :awais:

4runner drives fine (minus traction control) for now but I would like some insight on this if you have any.

Take to dealer? Independant shop handle it?

1st, the tire pressure light is a bit odd... Is the spare and the 4 driving tires full?

2nd, a CEL will trip all of those other lights.

It may be as simple as a loose gas cap and a low spare.

Have you done any offroading before this happened?,because a couple of warning lights came on my 05 runner similar to yours and it was because I didn't unactivate the four low gearing properly.If this didn't help try the owners manual first.Good luck

I think I might know what is going on. Did your check engine light, VSC OFF and VSC Trac lights all come on? Well, mine did yesterday all at once; at first I thought I had a major issue but then I did some research when I got home. BTW I have a 2004 V6. Check out this thread:

I went to the dealership (non toyota) where I just bought my 4runner 3 weeks ago and they hooked it up and the error was coming from the cat. The link above mentions the sensors in front of the cat being the issue so all i need to do now is take it in to Toyota and have them install a new cat and sensors this weekend. I believe you'll still be under warranty if you have less then 80k miles on your rig, but I could be mistaken.

Oh and for some reason my TPMS light will not go off either; I've taken it in to two different places and they all checked the pressure and filled the spare as well. I'm thinking one of my sensors in one of the tires is malfunctioning.

Well it was damn cold also. So what is the fix?

Don't know, it warmed up before I had a chance to look into it. It's supposed to be down below 0 this weekend so maybe I'll get a chance to look into it further.

VSC Update

So I went to the Seattle Toyota dealership today to get the check engine light - VSC light dealt with and it was indeed the sensor in front of the Cat that was the issue. Unfortunately they said that since it was not the cat itself that it would not be covered by the warranty which means $284.00 for a new one and install.....eff!!

BTW, my TPMS light is blinking b/c when the previous owner changed the tires they never transfered the sensors over to the new tires. 4 new sensors cost $794.00. I'm fine with the light blinking and checking my own tire pressure for that kind of money.

After one month of ownership I've been in a hit and run (parked in front of my house), warped rotors, pre cat sensor failure, and TPMS sensors non existent. I'm a optimist so it cannot get any worse right?

ROFL at $800 for sensors. I have seen new complete kits for $125.

That's why they are coined the Stealer! I'll check into an aftermarket kit when i upgrade my tires; thanks for the heads up.
