Trade in my 16' SR5 for a 19' Off Road?

I was just at the dealership while a friend was picking up a new Tacoma, and i had the dealer run numbers for me on a 19' Off Road non KDSS it came out to be about $45 more a month. on the Offroad. my SR5 has about 32k on it now and im really thinking this is something i should do. what do you guys think yea or nay. the Offroad has the exact same options as my SR5 minus the Offroad only differences

Seems silly since you gain little. So you won’t pay much more per month but how much do you extend payments? Pay it off and save your money for retirement. It’s basically the same truck anyway.

I love new cars as much as the next guy, probably more, but it’s only new for a short time. Is there a reason to move on from your 2016? Beyond just wanting the new one?

i have only owned it 2 years, no additional down payments, just resetting the clock on my original loan, same interest rate, same length.

The Offroad is what i originally wanted but settled on the SR5. beyond that its really about resetting the warranty and its new..

The locker was a must for me. Will they take $30 extra per month?

Do not look at how much more a month, but how much total more it will cost, including insurance increase, depreciation, etc.

If you are fine with the cost, then hell, go for it, that is why you work, right? lol. But also look at other options, the SR5 is great, and you can add a locker and other goodies to it.

I’d keep it and add a locker n the other goodies.

X’s 2. The SR5 is fantastic off road, you gain very little while adding 2 more years to your loan and increasing your payment.

Life is short. Go for it! I traded my 2016 SR5 for a 2018 off road. I like the look of the off road a lot better and I wanted the crawl control for the beach. As luck would have it, I got myself stuck on the beach the following summer. It was driver error going up a slope with not enough speed going over a berm. Dug myself in good. Crawl control got me out.

If it adds joy to your life and you can afford it, go for it. Really it comes down to your finances. Or wait for the next gen. Good luck!

So I did it. and i am not regretting the decision one bit. i got them to throw in the TRD Pro wheels, and i get to take a month off from payments. now i cant wait till Thursday for the wheels to come in.

resetting the warranty and its new..

Resetting the warranty? You can buy an after market warranty for a heck of a lot cheaper than 3 more years of payments.

Mine is 8 years old, 100k+ miles, haven't used the warranty once.......and it's paid off!
