Traded my '14 SR5 Premium for a '15 TE

What you are describing is the XREAS system on the Limited models only.

There is no maintenance to KDSS. There is no turning it off or on, engaging or disengaging or anything else. I just got rid of my TE that had it.
Now, to "learn" you something. Lifting a KDSS equipped vehicle is no more or less involved that anything else. It has another step in the process is all. Excellent. Thanks for posting this. It's definitely official, mine doesn't have it. As I said, it's no big deal. Just curious if my salesman was right or wrong.

And I lost about $3,000 on my '14. Worth it to me to move up a year and get the exact model I wanted.

Most sales people don't know much about what they stock let alone what they don't stock. If I remember right, our dealer thought KDSS came standard as well until I told them otherwise. Our dealer NEVER gets a Trail (so they knew very little)... new car guy won't stock them. So I guess that means mine will sell unbelievably fast later or I'll never be able to sell it because no one around here will want a Trail! I have never seen a Trail on the road in my neck of the woods, ever.

I kind of got the run around from my salesman also as I wanted a Trail. they tried their darndest to tell me I didn't need/want one. I went to Iowa city Toyota and looked at the one in stock and it made up my mind, I do want that model. I really like a lot of the features. Tomorrow the spousal unit and I are going to see if they can find what we want from another dealer. Hoping for blue but attitude black will work. I live in Cedar Rapids so maybe we can get together after I get mine for you to look it over.

Hey Dave... Very cool... I saw a few listed in Iowa but not many. IC & Quad each had them listed when I was looking but I never drove down. DM had a Trail and a TRDP on the way but I'm assuming they were spoken for before arrival. I'm a little surprised I was able to buy local but I'm thrilled that I was able to. I don't like taking our business out of the area, but sometimes have to. Hopefully I can stay local with any future Toyotas. They really stepped up on price and trade (for my 2011 Limited we swapped). I think it may be worth u giving these guys a shot if you want to make a run up here. You're welcome to PM me for details if you want. I dealt directly with the GM (rather than new sales mgr) and he couldn't have handled things more professionally with me... of course it doesn't hurt that we got the deal done. Had we not though, I would have probably given them (him specifically) another shot next time we traded. Have fun tomorrow!

I saw my dealer got a '15 TE in 3 days ago and did the trade yesterday. I couldn't be happier! My SR5 was nautical blue and the TE is silver. A question I have is how do I know if my TE has KDSS? The salesman said all TE's have it but the way he answered made me think he wasn't sure. I doesn't mention kdss anywhere on the window sticker. Also, does the TE sit higher than a regular SR5? Just driving it, it seems higher. Anyway I'm pretty stoked about the TE! I love the hood scoop and the wheels look awesome! I will definitely post pics this weekend. :clap2:

So, long time lurker, first time poster here. As someone who has been thinking long and hard about buying a 5th gen, I'm curious to hear why you traded in a '14 SR5 Premium for a '15 TE. I love the look of the TE, but don't have heavy off road needs. And, with two kids and a dog (hopefully soon once rescue adoption is final), the 3rd row option in the SR5 is really appealing. We rented an SR5 with the 3rd row and loved it, but all this talk of KDSS and the ride...makes me wonder what I'd be giving up.

I love the look of the TE, but don't have heavy off road needs. And, with two kids and a dog (hopefully soon once rescue adoption is final), the 3rd row option in the SR5 is really appealing. We rented an SR5 with the 3rd row and loved it, but all this talk of KDSS and the ride...makes me wonder what I'd be giving up.

Looks alone was my deciding factor. The wheels, hood scoop, beefier suspension along with the black interior trim. No other reason. My TE doesn't have the KDSS. I'm not much of an offroader either.
