Traded my H3 for a 4Runner

Been hanging around here for about a month. After seeing every other "SUV" on the market is more of a cross over, narowed my search down to one vehicle - a 4Runner.

My wife did not want to get rid of the H3 either becasue everything else looks a like. I did all the research and test drivng before I showed her what I found. She looked at the 4Runnder and said, "that looks good". I was overwhelmed by her excitement. Her only condition was that it had to be black with sand beige interior.

Told the dealer that I had the go ahead. He found one and had it shipped over.

The ride and feel on it is amazing. I wish I would have bought one sooner.

You bought the exact color combo I have. Welcome aboard and goodluck keeping your paint clean.... :redbrick:
 
Did you have the Alpha (v8 version) of the H3? I honestly went back and forth with the H3 alpha and the 4R, with the v8 being the only reason. Since they stopped making them I could not find a decent used Alpha, plus I did not want something they were not making anymore so, the 4R was the easy and best choice.
 
I have always had mixed feelings with the H2 & H3s... they just didn't live up to the H1's heritage in my eyes, but they still looked kinda cool. Not to mention they really seemed a bit squished in many ways for being built on a Tahoe Chassis!

Well I do hope you enjoy your new 4Runner. :)

The H2 is a useless and abomination in the eyes of the truck gods - it's the essence of useless overconsumption. The H3 is a little more useful, but still a little too blingy in my opinion.

I think the OP made a good call.

Mine was one of the first ones. Built in 2005. I bought it in 2006 though - first owner. It was the 3.5L engine. Didn't have bunches of power. But was fun to drive. The color was green with no bling. There will always be plenty of parts though, because they were basically the same as the Chevy Colorado or GMC Sonoma mechanically. (Not sure about the Alpha).

The only thing I never really liked about the H3 was that the cabin was a bit small for me. I'm 6' 4" and was always bumping my knees on the steering wheel getting in and out. After 123,000 miles I was ready for a change. My wife misses it, but is very pleased with the 4Runner and how it rides. Much, much smoother.

I know, I should have known better. It was super clean Wednesday and now has spots on it after the rain the other day. I'll have to get it cleaned up and then take a few pictures. The dealer made the tires shine like I've never seen before. Don't think I'll try to do that, but I'll get the rest of it picture ready.
 
It was still going strong. But, the transmission was rebuilt at 104K miles. I was disappointed in that, but it was cheaper than a car payment for the next year. This was the longest I had ever owned a vehicle and I was ready to move on.

The 4Runner is such a different truck from the H3. The ride is so smooth and quiet. I'm really enjoying it.
