To close the loop on this thread - yesterday I traded mine in for a 20k mile Non-KDSS 2014 TE. I had my low mileage KO2s swapped over to the new rig. Net difference was $1500. This one is in much better cosmetic condition than my old rig and is nearly mint.
The Non-KDSS rig rides *vastly* more smooth with the same KO2s. The KDSS stiffens the entire truck up so much that it's like a totally different vehicle. I'm actually shocked how different the ride is. Maybe there was just something wrong with my old one - who knows.
With my KO2s at 42psi on the old KDSS truck I could feel every crack in the road, but with them on the non-KDSS truck it's like a Cadillac. My wife's first comment when she rode in it was that it was so much smoother than the old one.
I'm extremely pleased with the swap - the new one doesn't have dents in the roof, stains on the seat, scratches all over the interior, or a 7/8" KDSS lean... and it has almost half the mileage.
For anyone who reads this thread in the future looking for advice on KDSS, I would say that you should really drive both versions before buying. I'm talking more than the 10 minute dealer "test drive." Take them both out and really feel the differences in how the suspension works. Don't just listen to your buddies or the internet on either option being "better" for whatever reason when it really comes down to a very different daily driving experience.
Anyway, here's my new used truck. I'm packing it right this moment with the dog, fishing stuff, cooler of food, and my wife and I are going to overland our way down to a remote location on the Gulf coast for a beach expedition. Or are we expeditioning to an overland location?
The take home point is white letters in on the KO2s.
