Trail Edition Availability

Hi There,

I've been lurking here for a few months, but now we're getting ready to purchase a 4runner in or around February. I was interested in the trail edition, but noticed on the toyota website, when I go to the 'build your 4runner' page, there is no Trail Edition trim level to select. Does this mean I cant purchase that trim level in my local vicinity, or has it been discontinued?

Cheers

Assume you're looking on toyota.com, under "Build your Toyota", and you are correct that does not reveal the TE. I put in my own zip, 61201, and Minneapolis' also, with the same result. But using Denver it exposes the TE.

The U.S. is divided into Sales Regions, and the Region, not the Dealer, determines which models and options come into the Region.

The TE is by far the least produced of the three models, and is not usually discounted as much, depending on where you live.

I'd be surprised if your dealer is willing to trade for one, never know tho. If you're willing to travel to a Region that has them, it will likely be your only way.

This is a common subject, and usually after a few days, other Forum members will pop up and tell you that (Dealer), in (City) has some. Depends on how badly you want the TE. Several Forum members have flown somewhere to buy one and driven it home.

EDIT: Call your dealer, see what he says. Guaranteed he'll want to sell what he has. I was talking to my salesman last Wed (I trust him) and he said they never get TEs.

We're in Naperville, IL, about 25 miles SW of Chicago

Hey I am in Chicago and it was such a hassle to get the TE here. I do say avoid Naperville Toyota as they totally tried to rip me off when I was trying to get mine. They had a Black 2011 and they would not go lower then 44k with no negotiation at all. End up going to Grossinger City Toyota and they gave me a good deal on it. Before them I went to about 10 dealership in the Chicago area. Good luck bud!

 Toyota Sales is complete horsepucky!

I tried to buy a Trail that was sitting on the lot in the summer of 2010 and the dealer was horrible. I then tried to order a Trail in spring of '11 and that dealer was horrible also.

I ended up driving several hundred miles to get the truck I wanted at a reasonable price.

Because toyota does not sell what customers want: Be prepared to part with more money than you should have to, or spend more time to get it than it should take....:wink2:

Out of interest, how do you know when & where a vehicle is available, is there some sort of search and notify list available on the web somewhere?

Cheers

Stevenson Toyota West in Colorado has a few 2013 trail editions as of last week when I was in there. I imagine they'll ship. Or it's a 13 hour drive one way. Done it a few times since I grew up in Naperville. If you decide to call this dealership PM me and I'll give you the name/number of someone to ask for.

I'm not surprised you are having a hard time, as I hardly think the TE is popular among the Naperville Princess demographic. :wow: You might want to look a little further downstate or up in Cheeseland.
