Never measured the difference, but it's probably at least 1.5" taller.
The big difference is that items like my cargo box attached to the SR5 rack will hit the shark fin. On the trail rack, they clear the shark fin.

I have a Yakima and love it but I really like the low-profile and all black look of the factory TE model.
I've spent about and hour searching for it and I must not be calling t the right thing or something. But have given up.
Any advice would be awesome!

the 10-13 Trail has an extra 2.7" of exterior height due to its unique roof rails. i'd give you a measurement of my TE rack if i hadn't already sold it years ago.

Its taller for sure. My 2013 Trail roof rack has about 1/2" clearance to the garage door. I thought I couldn't buy a TRD Pro until someone pointed out that the roof rack is lower, will compensate for the extra lift and larger tires.
.. and then any TRD Pro was already sold by the time I got to the dealership, and then I said f..k it I don't kiss ass to buy a vehicle. Those days are over.
