Trail edition factory roof rack

Cleaned and ceramic coated to restore the plastic. Can't wait to get this on just waiting on bolts. These really should have carried over from the early Trail models. Looks so much better.
IMO you should touch up the black on the inside of the rail where you can attach more hooks onto. The paint fades there rather quickly, mine did the same.

I swapped the racks today from a 2010 trail onto a 2015 trail and vice versa cause I'm getting ready to sell or trade the '10 and wanted to keep that original black '10 rack in the fleet. I didn't take pics but there are differences in mounting hardware. The obvious which has been mentioned were the bolts holding the rails to the roof. Black torx bolts on the '10 trail with shorter bolts up front perhaps due to the moon roof. IDK, I didn't engineer it. While the newer '15 trail rack, which is the standard on most of the trims now I believe, had shiny plated 12MM hex bolts all the same length. The other obvious was the rubber mount seal on the 10' extends the whole length of the rail while the '15 has 2 separate seals on either end. What was not obvious and I don't believe I've seen it mentioned (someone call me out if it has been) was the '10 had metal "brackets" between the roof and the rails that were easily removed and I cleaned them up before putting silicone around the sleeves. I transferred the brackets from the '10 to the '15 also to keep the hardware the same as the rails it came with. If you guys/gals get a set of '10-'13 trail rails I would think you're gonna need to have those "brackets" as well. The way the '15 rails were built are slightly different and omitted the need for the "brackets". I used GE 100% silicone around the sleeves and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn't leak.

Since this thread is alive again, does anyone know the part number for the rubber 'seal' that goes along the bottom of these rails?
I got a used set with pretty badly sun damaged and cracked rubber. I know it doesn't really make a proper seal but it's starting to come apart. Couldn't find a part number when I looked them over

You have the exact same look I’m in middle of doing. What suspension are you running? Those 265s? Borla exhaust?

I have a 2017 5th Gen SR5P that came with the silverish roof rail/rack. I tossed them, and picked up a 2010-2013 Trail Edition rack that was sun faded. Buffed it down, etching primer, and a semi gloss black later:
Will post installed pics once they're dry. I will probably throw them on tomorrow. Not sure if they will be my cup of tea. If not, they will be up

Like I said in an earlier post, I picked up some sun faded Trail Edition roof rails/rack. My intent was to make them look new, but the only feasible way seemed to be to paint them. Glad I did, as they turned out perfect, and look awesome on my black 4R. I went with professional grade semi gloss.

Turned out sweet!!!! Going to try to locate a set of these in South Texas. Would like to powder coat them same color (Kingsport grey) as my wheels I just got powdered. Thanks for the post and pics!
