Hey Jeff, thanks for the info but the part number you gave me (PT938-89100) is for the 2010-13 Trail Edition. Here are some pictures of that part number.
Ok, so THESE are the running boards that I would like for my SR5 (not TE) and I'm confident that I can manufacturer, cut, mold and/or weld a solution to make them fit. However, what IS VERY INTERESTING is when I Googled PT938-89100 and searched under images, the above running boards was showing up on the Tacoma Boards!!???! See here, here and here. Of course what is really intriguing is that all three are being sold under $200, which is great for me... but what are your thoughts!? I'm new to the 4Runner world but willing to experiment,
I'm also wondering how similar are the Tacoma to the 4Runners for exterior add-ons.

Great looking Trail and really love those running boards! I'm looking into getting a pair for my SR5... I've been told the holes won't line up but that if I'm willing to get a custom bracket made that it would work... thus, I'm looking at doing that or getting SR5 brackets and welding them onto the running boards.
As mentioned, what is weird is that the Tacoma has a VERY similar offering.

See post #31. The ones you're looking for are not sold as a set by Toyota. The only way you're going to find a set for a decent price is find someone who just got a 2014 and took them off. That's what I did and I've seen a few sets listed in the For Sale/Wanted post at the top of this forum. They go quick so be prepared. I'd check craigslist (nationwide search) as well.

Thanks Jeff. I saw that post but I was hoping someone would have had some luck recently. One of the sales guys here told me that they were finally getting running boards in when I did a test drive a couple weeks ago. So I thought maybe something had changed. I guess I need to go down there and see what they have on hand.

I believe they can be with spacers, but I'm not looking to mount Trail edition running boards on a SR5 or Limited. I want to know how to purchase the 2014 Trail (or Canadian) type running boards to put on a 2014 Trail. It seems the only reasonable two ways to do it are to get them installed from the factory when buying the vehicle or hope to find someone who has taken them off their 2014 Trail. Shipping from a Canadian owner is cost prohibitive. Maybe the supply line will eventually catch up and they will be available in the aftermarket, but right now they don't seem to be (other than piecing them together through a Toyota dealership for $1,000+).

I went to a dealership parts department today and was told the same thing Jeff M was told, in order to get the 2014 Trail running boards you have to order them piece by piece for a total of $1,600+. The parts guy told me that based on the part numbers that these particular running boards will never be able to be purchased as a full unit like the 2010-13 running boards currently are. He said the 2014 Trail running boards are a factory only item. With the 10-13 running boards the part number, PT938-89100, the PT signifies a port installed item, not a factory installed item. When he searched his database for a 2014 4Runner Trail PT938-89100 comes up, which are the 10-13 running boards that have the silver trim with holes as seen in pictures in this thread. I saw the part # on his screen and where it showed he searched for a 2014 Trail model. It also shows a picture, but of a Limited model...go figure. So I told him to do the same search, but with a 2012 Trail and PT938-89100 came up again. So it looks like we are out of luck. I'm not convinced that these will NEVER be available as a full unit, but probably not any time soon.

I wished I had seen this thread two weeks ago. I did lots of Research and made lots of calls and visited parts depts at two dealerships to figure out what all these posts could have told me. Should have started here first.
It all started because I ordered the "KH Rigid" from the dealership, brought home the box, opened it up, and it was the PT938-89100. Returned them right away.
I was debating the N-fab route, now that I see all the pics here, I pretty sure that is what I'm going to add.
I also wish Toyota didn't show the KH rigid in their accessory catalog.

I saw the Rigid Running Boards on a 2014 SR5 and they look cool. Definitely a better fit. The ones I have on my 2013 SR5 are horrible. They're made for baby feet. I talked to the parts guy and he gave me the same answer about piecemealing them to buy them. WAY over $1100 I just want to know if they would actually fit on my SR5. And hopefully they sell them as a set or hopefully find someone selling them.
