Where did you see that? Did the turn signals and puddle lights work?

I added the mirrors a while back and dont recall exactly what was done and no pictures were taken, but Ill try by best. I cant believe these mirrors didnt come factory with the vehicle. This mirrors that I purchased were aftermarket; KOOL mirrors replacement.
There were basically four wiring obstacles. Changing the mirrors with the stocks were straight forward, swaped. You can access the internals by removing the mirror from the body. Wires are; turn signals, flood light, mirror controls, heater (I did not power this- I live in an area that doesnt freeze), and ground. Most of the wires were splice into the factor harness (harness that was used to plug into the factory mirrors).
For the mirror controls, I believe there were two wires which control up/dwn and lft/rgt. I just had to play with these wires with the factor harness to get this right.
For the flood light- first I swapped out the bulb to a led which is really nice at night. You can either use the door lights which can be spliced in right from the door- downside is when you use your remote to unlock the doors, the flood lights will not light up, only when you open the door will it light up. Or, you can wire it to the dome lights which do light up when the doors are unlocked with the remote.
Finally the turn signals. I tired to find the turn signals through the access panel but couldnt find it, so ended up running a wire to the front turn signals.
All in all a very simple and easy install...hope this helps.

Crazy that the wire harness is totally different between models. Was thinking of doing this mod but now having second thoughts.

Toyota sold 8,557,000 vehicles last year alone and I guess they figure an unused 5ft of wire and and a 10 ft of wire there and a extra connector here and there can add up to some real change. Dang bean counters!
You could still do it for looks as you don't have a working turn signal or puddle light there now. It's basic wiring 101 to tap into the turn signals and over head lights and shouldn't be that hard.
