ETrailer shows the shipping weight as 33lbs. I'd say you're within a pound or two of that. Not worth taking off IMHO (like that V8 will notice 33lbs :lmao: ). Put a step in it, it'll make washing the roof easier

I have a v6 and keep the hitch in from may thru october. and yes it does work well as a step to wash the roof.
I was actually thinking more than just the hitch but the hardware the hitch connects to bolted to the frame of the truck.. I have the weight distributing hitch and it is attached with what looks like 20mm bolts. I figured (6) 20mm bolts must be holding something heavier than 33lbs

No, the 33lb number is for the receiver assembly. I used the wrong terminology:bash: It's 33lbs for the box, bolts and the whole, big mechanism that bolts on the underside of the truck. When I did mine it was easily manageable and I don't doubt 30lbs +/- for a second.

The hitch and the undercarriage mounting assembly (to my mind) are good protection for the rare occasion off roading. Prevents expensive damage to the bumper and floor pan back there.

I had a $250 hitch step and my wife backed into a tree (Yes, even with a back-up camera). The step hitch prevented any damage to the vehicle but bent the hitch and had to be replaced. This caused me to look for something a little stronger and I found the Superbumper. It WILL withstand a good impact without any damage and is worth every penny, with its lifetime replacement guaranty. The con is it is chrome plated/powder coated steel and will rust, but it is still worth it. You just need to give it a little more attention.
So Superbumper, if you are out there, you need to make it out of stainless steel!
