Since I don't tow how much weight would be removed by taking off the trailer hitch. I have the hitch that goes with the V8 it's a 2006 4Runner
ETrailer shows the shipping weight as 33lbs. I'd say you're within a pound or two of that. Not worth taking off IMHO (like that V8 will notice 33lbs :lmao: ). Put a step in it, it'll make washing the roof easier![]()
I was actually thinking more than just the hitch but the hardware the hitch connects to bolted to the frame of the truck.. I have the weight distributing hitch and it is attached with what looks like 20mm bolts. I figured (6) 20mm bolts must be holding something heavier than 33lbs

thanks Koz I was unaware of such a product.
The hitch and the undercarriage mounting assembly (to my mind) are good protection for the rare occasion off roading. Prevents expensive damage to the bumper and floor pan back there.
Just my 2 cents.
