Trailer Wiring

Hey guys, so I got an '05 SR5 and I want to pull my dad's boat with it. Just one problem..I don't have the wiring to connect to the wiring harness. It looks like I have a 7 blade on the car and the trailer is a 4 flat. How do I connect these 2 together?

You have a connector on the 4runner already? If so just go to your auto parts store and there's a 7 pin to 4pin adapter that you need.

Check more carefully under your rear bumper as I believe every 4Runner has the 7-pin connector from the factory.

You need a ball mount, ball and pin. The ball size needs to match the size your boat trailer needs. Trailer Hitch Ball Mounts, Adjustable, Multi-Ball, Aluminum, Cushioned and Long | etrailer.com

Then you need a 7 pin to 4 or 5 pin adapter so the flat harness from the trailer can plug into your truck. Adapters Wiring | etrailer.com

Then you need to practice backing up and getting the trailer into the launch ramp and out of the boat launch ramp efficiently.

After dealing with too many slow, unprepared, inefficient people at the ramp I opted to keep mine at a marina. Way too many inexperienced people at the ramp now a days causing a ruckus and delays.

I urge you to be careful at the ramp, watch out for the idiots and have fun.
