Tranny Cooler

Quick question fellas. I've noticed a lot of people install an aftermarket transmission cooler to replace the factory one. My 4runner is a daily driver and I don't go off road. Would there be any benefit if I upgraded to an aftermarket unit? My 4runner does come with the factory tow package and tranny cooler.

If you have the V8 you have a pretty good external cooler. I see no need to upgrade it unless you are doing heavy towing. I have been driving mine now for 10 years in the Arizona desert with temps up to 120 in the summer along with a lot of off road with zero problems.

No need to upgrade for a daily driver unless you do heavy towing.

Good to know. My 4runner is usually packed with fishing gear and other necessities. A small Jon boat may be in my future but I highly doubt it will place that much of a strain on the tranny.
