tranny issues need help guys

What's going on all new to the site so i figure ill just jump onn in I've owned a 92 t4r 3l with the auto tranny i recently took it for a spin its mostly a mud truck so it doesn't get much pavement time i noticed it was shifting kinda funky and on an incline or cruising its making a noise that mocks rod knock but from the tranny oddly enough it shifts fine its just the power loss if i stomp on it it will downshift good and no noise and at idle and 1st not a sound? The tranny code says the #1 solinoid is shot but what the heck that noise sounds bad and I'm prety shure the bad sol wouldnt make a rapping noise. I'm not to. thrilled with the thought the trannys shot so any imput is appreciated. thanks

How often do you change trani fluid? And what does it look like currently?

I did a pan drain and fill with a filter a month ago the fluid made coffee look light in color lol but didn't make an affect prior

New trans fluid is bright cherry red, worn is a real dark red, brown is not so good. Did it smell burned?
If your getting a bad #1 solenoid code, then replacing it is a good place to start.

No, the fluid was burnt beyond color its the 1st time its been changed by me and who knows last time the orig owner did it.... i mean if its the #1 sol no issue ill change it out but that rap doesnt sound like a sol-valve body or low/high fluid scenerio im just currious what the heck coulda maybe broke and lead to this...? im just not playing nancy drew with the tranny if its a major thing ill just buy a used one but if its a common or similar issue whel...
