Hey I'm doing my clutch right now. Trans is on the ground. It's a 5vz, dumb question but which way does the clutch go on? I'm confused I've read to different things. From my service manual and heard different things. Is it the springs that stick out go into the flywheel side? That's what fsm states. But a tech tells me different. I'm confused and need a hand asap!

It's oem and the only thing stamped on it is aisin....I went with what the fsm states even tho every other clutch I have done was different. I just didn't know what to do. Nobody has an answer??

I put one in backwards once, it made a horrible noise for a few minutes, then it went away...it self clearanced the springs. I'm trying so hard to remember which way it went, i think the springs went away from the flywheel. Sorry I can't remember exactly!

Well I downloaded a few different clutch installation guide lines for toyotas and every single one EXCEPT the 5-vz have the springs facing the pressure plate. So my luck was ok on that one. But on my test drive some ass hole pulled out in front of me lost a log of wood and it managed to miss my bumper and go straight through my radiator......but on a good note clutch is feeling awesome. I forgot how stiff it was untill I put the new one in!
