Trans-America Trail - Mississippi Hill Country Loop March 20, 2016

My plans for Sunday fell through so I loaded up the recovery gear and headed for a solo trip through the Trans-America Trail Mississippi Hill Country Loop with the intent to document the whole trail over time. I was able to get from Batesville, MS to Tilatoba, MS before I ran out of sunlight. Here is the video and a few pictures.

I'd love to travel to do these things. Problem is that's a day drive just to get to these places. I'd have to leave 1 before and roll 1 day after. But I would love to have a fun trail with some challenges to traverse!!

It's 3 hours to Gluckstadt. Trail starts there :lmao:

I'm doing in center dialysis three days a week right now until I get a kidney transplant. I'm hoping to get my own portable machine so I can be more mobile but I yearn for the day when I can just slip away for a month or two and just look around. Thanks for sharing this and I look forward to reading about more of your adventures.

The TAT passes semi-close to me in Chattanooga, and dips down very close to where my parents live in central Mississippi. I could do 85% of the drive from here to there without doing much more than crossing a few paved roads, and of course the required bridges over large waterways.

Gonna do it some day.

Someday.

The problem is that it would be at least a two-day trip, and possibly three, instead of the normal 5-6 hour drive on I-59 and Hwy 82.

I could handle it, but when I'm going home I've always got my kids and wife with me. They'd mutiny. And even if I did manage to get a solo trip, when I'm going home I'm going to spend time with family and this would eat up too much time.

But someday I'll arrange it so the wife goes in her own vehicle (her parents live a few miles from mine) and the kids either go with her or are with the ex. And I'll just mosey on my own time down old gravel roads, smiling the entire way


Much more likely would be leaving the kids with the grandparents and doing a day-trip along the MS Hill Country Loop.
