Transfer Case Capacity ?

87', 22RE, 5spd.
Book says 3.4 qt. but mine overflowed fill hole at closer to 2 qts. Not much I can do really just curious.

How much fluid came out when you changed it?

I believe my '86 with an auto trans shares fuild with the transfer case. My son had a '88 with a manual trans & it had seperate fluids.

My FSM states 1.7 US quarts.

Yep manual gearbox is separate, and 1.7 qt sounds right. Fsm over Haynes/chilton any day! Drained into my oil catch along with the gearbox and both differentials so no idea on volume that came out.
