Hi everybody, tried contacting blackworks and the guys at t120 with no luck so here I go.
Unfortunately I became a victim of the faulty transfer case actuator issue but not by lack of use because I wheeled my rig weekly.
Is there an specific way of installing the transfer case actuator? I ran into that PITA about a year ago and finally got to it.
The actuator burnt itself up for some reason voltage dropped a lot when trying to engage.
Anyway I bought a used a one that worked but I also had to replace the front actuator with a new one.
The thing is I now have 4wd it engages beautifully 4hi clack, Neutral 4lo clack (I had the biggest smile on my face when I heard that).... BUT disengaging is a whole other story.
Neutral 4lo disengages but, when going in Drive it makes the horrible grinding sound like when you don't fully stop.
Its like it can't engage 4hi properly so I just go back to 2wd and the noise stops.
I might be wrong, but I think it has to do with the position I placed the small gear that goes on thw actuator shaft.
Sorry for the long post, tried to cover everything.
Hope you can share some knowledge on this.
03 4runer limited with part time 4wd.
Cheers
