I have a 96 4runner limited edition automatic. It has a transfercase(4wd) shifter knob that has H,N,L letters. It always stay at H position.

About couple weeks ago, while I was driving on the freeway, I accidentally bumped The 4WD shifter from H to N. Now, the entire car is in neutral.

I need a transfercase genius to educate me on how much damage can occur with this action.

Thank you

Paul

why do people do that i dont understand how that's possible unless your lady is give you roadhe..... uh nvm

First off, have you tried to put the transfer case back into gear and driving it?

Does it not drive with the transfer case gear?

These are questions that need to be answered before we can relly help you out.

didnt this just happen like a month ago to someone else, i swear this is the same freakin question that was just being talked about... the guy thought that he damaged his tcase and couldnt move his vehicle...?

is it just me? am i crazy? or did this question get posted like 3 weeks ago?

If no damage will occur, can you explain why my transfercase is stuck in neutral. Did I activate a sensor or switch? I spend about 10+ hours with factory service manual and couldn't figure it out.

My last resort is the remove transfercase and open it.

So far so one can explain to me for the past month.

Thank you,

i dont think you have no damage, i think you can actually break a lotta stuff shifting at high speed. im not expert on the internals, but i would go on marlin crawler's site and ask them or give them a call they are the transfercase experts.

Did you get the lever to move back into H?
With the vehicle stopped, engine running, trans in N, push the lever into H. Sometimes allowing to vehicle to roll slowly will aid this procedure.
