transfercase wont lock

OK, so I assume how you lock the transfercase is you just hit the button. All that happens on my 04 V8 is the light blinks and blinks and blinks... That doesnt mean that its locked, or does it? Am I missing something? I've waited up to 5 - 10 minutes and all that happens is the light keeps on blinking. The "VSC OFF" light doesnt come on, which it should when its engaged. Any suggestions?

When locked there should be the VSC off light and the lock light shhould be steady.

Try pushing the button and backing up then driving forward a couple of times. Delay a couple of seconds as you transition through N.

Yeah, I tried that. Forward, reverse, waiting in N, etc. It still just blinks and nothing else happens. I might have to get the........*sigh* dealership to look at it when I take it in for an oil change next week.

Trust me, I know about excercising the transfercase in 4x4's. :) I've owned the 4Runner less than a year, and when I bought it everything worked. I tried putting it in 4LO yesterday, and it took a long time for it to engage. Also, its -25C out so its not going to happen instantly.

I drive down a lot of gravel roads, so its seen a rougher life than most 4Runners. Picture driving down 200 miles of gravel to get to where you live, then having to drive 200 miles again to leave town. Either way, hopefully its nothing too serious.

Guess I was preaching to the choir:bash: I'm sorry... So many people don't know though...

Wish you a quick easy repair, good luck! Stay warm, that's freakin' cold!

Hey, no problem. Some people dont know that, and I hope by reading this, now they do. I wonder if because its this cold, something is frozen up. The t-case lock is all internal though, isnt it?
