Transmission clicks when put in Park

Hey guys,

My 01 and my 96 are both doing the same thing.

Drives and shifts normally but when I stop and put it in park , the truck settles, moves very slightly forward and I hear a click. It sounds like its coming from the front diff but could be the transmission.

Anything to worry about?

The way the "park" feature works is by locking the driveshaft coming out of the transmission.

IOT do this, there is a lever and a gear. If it's not lined up right, and it will VERY likely not be, the truck will move, until the lever settles into the gear.


That's the click and movement you have.

Give me a few and I'll go take a couple pics of the bad TRANS I have sitting out side and show you.

Nope don't worry about it. All autos do it

Yeah, I figured it wasn't a real big deal. My 96 does it and my 01 did not do it at first but now it does it too. Thanks guys.
