Transmission Crossmember

Looking at the parts diagram what is the correct part number for the transmission cross member? Reason for asking is that 3 of the 4 weld nuts that the RCI skid plate bolt to have snapped, the two on the passenger side snapped a few months back and I had to drill up through the cross member and insert longer bolts to attach the skid plate, the outer one on the drives side snapped when Toyota was working on my 4runner and the inner one isn't too far behind. The drivers side has a larger oval opening on top of the cross member so I can't drill new holes and it's near impossible to try and wiggle pliers and a nut into place enough to try and fasten to (I have small hands but not that small).

So that's why I'm asking.

A nutsert is possible option but I'm not sure what to even order on that end.

What are the bolt sizes that have broken? Most of my skid plates are attached with nutserts at this point. The Astro 1442 works well up to M8, but you'll need an 1452 for M10-12.

I'm very diligent in using ample amounts of antiseize on all of my skid bolts these days.

Bumping this thread because I cannot for the life of me track this part number. I tried last year and found a Japanese diagram saying the trans crossmember is “not serviceable”. I can’t for the life of me figure out why considering it unbolts pretty simply and I see them pop up on the wrecker sites on eBay all the time (which will likely be my route).

What possible reason would this be unserviceable for?

Every major parts site shows it on the diagram but when you scroll through the list it skips (#6) the trans crossmember every time.

Getting ready to order skids but I trashed my crossmember on a rock a year or so ago. Just pulled off the damaged “Suspension Support - Toyota (51225-35040)” to see if I could possibly work with the damaged crossmember. It’s pushed in quite a bit and I no longer trust the welds on the nuts (where the support and skid plate will mount up.

Any input is appreciated.

Also the fug is the deal with this mount? Do I need a special tool to remove it? Or is it just a simple screw?

Think my plan is to unbolt it from the trans and drop it with the crossmember. Remove it from the damaged crossmember off the vehicle, then transfer it over to the new/used crossmember I end up purchasing.

Again any input is appreciated.

Edit: It holds the two haves together should the rubber on the mounts fail. There is a hole in the cross-member the plastic nut protrudes through. Only removing the 4 bolts from beneath is required to separate the mount from the cross-member. You don't mess with the plastic nut.

Found a decent one on eBay that wasn’t crazy rusty. Went ahead and pulled the trigger.

If anyone has an idea of why they call it “unserviceable“ I’m all ears.

If anyone knows if I need a tool for the mount screw plastic nut doodangle I’m all ears.

I’m off to order a replacement support dohicky.

I just joined this but I’m having the same issue with the cross brace. Did you end up ever finding out the part number for the bolts on the cross member?

THANK YOU FOR THIS. i been looking for this part number too. Toyota dropped my tranny and when removing these 2 things that hold onto the transmission crossmember and one they had to replace the bolts, the other on passenger side the bolts broke and now theres these little nubby rusted nipples sticking out. they didnt even tell me. had to take my 4runner back today and asked them to finish the repair and install the support becasue they just kept it and didnt even give it to me. they are supposed to repair ANY snapped bolts anywhere on the engine or trans when work is being done by drilling out or pb blasting with induction coil heater, and retapping new threads and placing new bolts in there. The last time my 4runner was in Toyota they did a engine rebuild seal kit and bolts broke on that and they tapped and placed new bolts in place. I dont know why theyd just skip this and not tell me.

Lucky the mechanic came out to meet me today and apologized. He said his apprentice forgot to remind him to deal with that issue and it got overlooked. He is now going to either use heat and pb blaster and induction coil heat or hell drill it out. You use cobalt bits and start with a small drill bit, then bigger one, then yet another larger bit until you expand the hole to remove the bolt. then you use the threads if theyre good, if not retap the hole for a new metric bolt.
