and sorry but new tires a year ago dont really mean much in resale value... i mean tires are one of those things that its kinda more what the buyers wants... i mean if you wanted mud tires and he just put on brand new hwy tires, that really adds no value -at least thats the way i look at it

That's a pretty fair description of the sound. Reminds me of 1st and 2nd gear in my Subaru, but a bit deeper.

I agree on the tires, but he sees it (an other repairs) as added value. Makes negotiating tough.

id pass then... the rear end is on its way out, -not that major but enough that if hes not gonna negotiate much dont waste your time... tires, yeah we covered that, and there will come other deals. the repairs dont really "add" value, they just enable the vehicle to "hold" its value... upgrades add value... like a supercharger, or winch, or lockers, or a stereo or nav unit... those add value -as long as they are quality products and done correctly.

Thanks for the advise. So many sellers seem to think they get to take "good" book value and then add on the cost of recent maintenance items. Like you said, that work just maintains the value.

Now to find someone who understands that!

Went ahead and offered 3700 just to see what he said. I'm sure he'll turn it down.

There's plenty of good ones that pop up around here every week, so I'm not worried or in a rush.
