Transmission or break problems

My 2007 4Runner has been sitting a lot this year due to the motor getting hydro locked this past year! After I do a hard stop and try to go again it seems like the breaks are holding the Vehicle back. If I just release the brakes the 4Runner won’t inch forward, I apply the gas and it gets up to 1800-1900 rpm and then it surges forward, I’m assuming that’s the factory stall on the torque converter! I replaced the front calipers with centrics from a 5th gen but the issue still persist! So before I replace the rear calipers is their anything that could be wrong with the torque converter or transmission?

I have towed a Tahoe on a duel axle trailer for 300 miles I was more then likely right at or exceeding the 7000lbs tow rating, it never acted up but I was gentle with takeoffs and braking!

I would think if the brakes are doing this they would also be dragging while driving. Any sign of heat or smoking from the wheels while driving? You said the engine was hydrolocked but didn't say why. If it was from driving through too deep water is it possible water got into your transmission as well? Let us know what you find out. Good luck

I don’t know why the motor was hydro locked! It was parked on Friday and Saturday (heavy rain), started it on Sunday with the engine knocking. Pulled the intake and it was full of water! It has never been driven through water!

I just took it for another drive, it only happens after hard braking but the transmission is not shifting down to first, once the brake is released their is a 5 sec pause and you can fill the trans going into first the it will start rolling forward! I guess I’m going to check the fluid level first and see if it’s low! Any other ideas?
