Transmission rebuild/VSC issue/ engaging 4wd????

Hi,

Hoping someone else might be able to give me some insight into a seemingly unending issue with my 04 4runner v6 4wd.

So first of all, transmission went out and I took the truck to who I thought was a decent mechanic. Probably the worst freakin mechanic in the world. I'd love to put this jerk out of business/ get a refund.

After rebuilding my transmission (ETA 2 days, turned into a week and a half) my 4wd lights and VSC lights started flickering. Shortly after that, I was getting a huge "bang" sound/feel and grinding noise. as if it was trying to engage VSC/4wd while driving.

I took it back to the shop (under warranty) and they held it for 4 more days. Supposedly they fixed the problem.

Happens again... So I take it back again and they say it could be the VSC sensors (supposedly they won't fix this, even though I had no issues with this prior to taking it to them.) OR he could (for $300) drop my transfer case, and see if there's an issue there.

This dude is a jerk, doesn't return calls, tells me its going to be done and its not, continues to give me the run around, and my truck is still (after about 4 weeks total shop time) with him.

Anyone know what the problem with the truck might be? and/or how I can get a refund from him/ some compensation?

He never offered towing (for return to shop twice) and he never offered rental car (for return to shop twice) and if I can't get my truck fixed after $2700 for a rebuild, how can I put this dude out of business? something? anything?

I'd really appreciate the feedback!!!!!! Thanks!

Anthony

Thanks or the Reply!

I took it to "Las Vegas Transmission Shop" also known as "Las Vegas Transmission Specialists", and one or two other names..

I fixed the issue. The GM, Jesse, was trying to rob me, I'm more than sure of that. The actuator wasn't plugged in all the way. Being that he told me he ran through all of the electronics, I'm more than positive this was done purposefully to get me to come back and spend more money, when all he had to do was plug it in. He should've done this right the first time, double checked it the second time I brought it back, and definitely caught it the third time that I went back.

I wish there were a way to get this jerk put out of business so that no one else is robbed by his shop. Horrible service, wouldn't return calls, or give me a day to expect it finished. Didn't seem like he knew what he was doing, and continuously ripped me off.
