I haven't, have you check the fluid level?
Ok Skip, you can laugh after I type this out.
Whine was not loud enough to hear in the engine area. Dominate underneath trans area.
Broke out stethoscope and hear whirling sound from the trans forward.
Run to the store later, and my scan gauge started showing voltage flexuation.
Smoke comes out a little later, LOL.
First item I have had to replace on this ride, not bad.
More than happy to replace this alternator versus the thought of trans problem.
Problem solved! :cheer2:
Mine definitely has some sort of whine. I have replaced the alternator awhile back during the tbelt install and did a power-steering flush not long after that (with the correct fluid as well) and it never went away or skipped a beat. I'm thinking trans but I haven't touched it yet. Thinking about doing a fluid transfer via the cooler lines and see what happens then.
When you replaced the alternator did you also check the idler pulley and the belt tensioner pulley, both of those bearings tend to whine when they're close to going completely bad?
A mechanic's stethoscope work very well pinpointing such whines and other noises, just be very careful when using one near moving pulleys and belts etc., but it can be done if you watch what your doing.
