Where did your truck come from?

I live in Minnesota and I can't think about buying a car from here.

My old friend in San Diego has been a freak for these things since we were in high school when 1st gens came out. He still watches CL everyday and a couple years ago, I put him on the hunt for my first Toyota, I knew I wanted 3rd gen.

Few months, he found a 98 5 speed. Bone stock everything works well, runs awesome. Paint is oxidized. I think it had 173k miles when I picked it up. Below was the teaser pic he sent me. Flew out and drove it home, explored a bit in Utah on the way.

So my truck is the truck that grew up in San Diego the whole time and moved Minnesota as an adult. Just like me lol.

Anyhoo... I get loads of comments on zero rust. I store it through the Winters. The forsaken months.

Truck has since put a spell on me.

I'll prob start a build thread when things start to get interesting.

I found mine in Cali. San Jose to be specific. Market around here is crazy as well as I just wasn't finding what I wanted, so I started expanding my search. Found it, flew down in the morning, owner picked me up from the airport and drove straight to the bank. Then I when for a quick climb at a local spot I knew of since I used to live in the area and then off to Seattle. Was home by 4am.

Crazy thing is that I know I could get the same amount and probably more for my rig today around here than what I paid for it 10 years ago. WTF?

Fellow Minnesotan here. I bought my 3rd gen down in Tulsa, OK. Extremely clean body and frame with ~185k on it when I bought it. The vast majority of 3rd gens I see in the Minneapolis area are poorly maintained and rusted.
