Travel Nightmare

I have to say that I am thankful for the 4-Runner on this Thanksgiving. My family (Wife and 10 month-old daughter) left St. Louis for Des Moines, IA on Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Before I was even outside of St. Louis the snow and sleet/ice became to pour down. I was able to put the truck in 4H and drive at about 20 MPH through white-out conditions. THe truck handled beautifully in the snow (even with Dunlops) and ice. Even though the trip took twice as long, I was glad to not be one of the 50+ cars we saw in the ditch or median on I-70. Reason number 453 why I am happy I bought a 4-Runner.

4wd is one of those things I would rather have and not need than need and not have. It's also useful in dry weather for jumping the median to get to the access road to get by a traffic jam on the freeway when an accident occurs, or crossing the median to go back 3 miles to the rest area when one of the munchkins screams out that they're about to go 10-100 in their pants.

Although listing all the reasons would definitely be fun, I think I will refer all of you just search through all of Thai's posts. I'm sure that after reading through, what like 3000+ you will find them.

I agree about the 4WD. My wife was not on board 100% when we had to shell out the extra dough, but last Wednesday was a big "I told you so" for me!!!:D

Same, my wife could never understand why I paid 15K and financed brand new
4wd but after driving in the snow here in Denver for past week she now complains much less than before. :)
