TRD & 4.7L Supercharger

I gotta say - that if 6 months from now TRD still isn't making the S/c available, but that it's a factory installed option on 2005 - I'll trade mine in, even if it costs $48k.

Pros:

New 270hp V8 should pump out even more than 350hp w/ TRD s/c.

Backup camera - I know it's kinda trivial - but I like it - I'm a geek & I love gadgets.

3rd row seat now available w/ navigation & JBL

I get a new 4Runner - mind already has 35k miles, probably would have 45k miles in 6 months...

Cons:

Down payment/ loss on trade in

Higher monthly payments

Not worth it, trust me I've considered trading in my 03 4x2 sc for a 03 or 04 4x4 non sc and I would loose at least $8000 with all the stuff I've put on. Thats why I bought an FJ for the same amount and its 4x4.

They messed up the numbers. The stock 4.7 V8 does 0-60 in the 7's per all of the mag's. Why add the SC if it doesn't make it any faster???

Yup - #'s are screwy. Those are stock times. Also, the torque isn't right either - the torque only going up by 35 or so? TRD claims around 450ft-lbs peak.

Otherwise, I'll smoke those superchared runners! I'm pulling 0-60 in 7.5 right now, with just k&n filter & flowmasters!!!

Looks like all they did was bolt on a S/C and raise the price by $12K.

Actually its $4266, an install would probably run you about $600

Yeah, so I looked at the magazine, BTW, it's 4wheeler magazine. So, caption under the article in table of contents: "The fastest production 4x4 we've ever tested"

So they quote it as being a factory option, and the 4Runner at 48k. They go on about how cool it is to have such a fast well handling 4x4 that can out perform most German SUV's, and yet be a true off road vehicle. Picture of article has 4Runner trudging through water.

BUT, the specs are definetely equivalent to stock 4Runner speed times, with the 0-60 at 7.6, and the 1/4 mile at 16 seconds.

Soooo - while it was a cool article, it was poorly documented. Typical 4x4 magazine, seems underfunded and written by red necks.

If you want to look at a Magazine that is consistant at screwing up a lot of their numbers check out "Truck Trend" They are the worst. Makes you wonder if any of their staff reads the magazine? I mean these are real obvious mistakes, like example - showing the Toyota 4runner V8 and V6 having the same HP/TQ.
