TRD OIl Filter (HUGE)!

Allright knuckle heads. All these filter#s have seeing crazy. Make a list of all the filters you want cut and I will open them up. I get a very good price on yota filters with my business. I will be more than happy to cut some up.

But aren't there two choices for the stock Toyota filter? The YZZD-3 and the B-5? Or am I getting mixed up?

There's also the 20004, but those are unfortunately discontinued, and there are also pictures of that filter cut open on the web.

Thanks toyo. Make the stock one you cut a -YZZD3. Pictures already exist of the TRD -007 and Toyota -YZZB3.

OK, what all this talk about someone on here cutting up a stock YZZD3 filter or any other? I don't see it happening! I chop up a new TRD filter at least someone could cut a use YZZD3 or something? If I had a YZZD3 laying around it would be chop up already!

Calm down my man! I cant find a damn pipe cutter big enough. I went to pull out the jig saw last night but had the weong blades. I will figure something out today.
I also got my hands on some original Nippon oil filters the other day. I will see what these look like also.

Would a hacksaw work? And also, if you have a Dremel tool, you could use a cut-off wheel.

Yes and yes, I have both. However, I dont the metal shavings. I am going to go to a plumbing suppl yhouse, they might have a bigger pipe cutter.

Read the manual. Some vehicles have a special oil that recommends you keep it in for at least a certain milage (however I don't think Toyota does... I think this is mainly Honda/Acura and a couple other brands). If it does not have a specified time for the first oil change then I would recommend doing it at half the milage of your normal interval.

So if your manual recommends you change the oil in your 4Runner every 5000 miles, then do your first change at 2500, then your next and 7500, next at 12500, etc.

I've heard real good things about Pure One Puralator filters. I found one that looks like that Amsoil one in size. Pepboys, $5, blue can. The # is PL20195.
About buying so many filters and storing in garage; is that a good idea? The rubber seal will dry up if stored too long.

Different Size Filters

My 2 cents worth...The size of the TRD oil filter happens to be pretty close to that of the old 20R engine of the mid `70`s, the 3B motor of the `80`s and the 5MGE motor of the `80`s, and probably more. This filter is close to the same filter found on most Ford`s from the `60`s to the mid `90`s. Also a shorter version can be found on most Chrysler products from the early `90`s to present. The size of the thread and gaskets are the same for these filters, although there might be some diferences in the valving or the filter element itself. So, in theory, aftermarket companies will have a filter much like the TRD filter.

I have a whole case of YZZD3's...I used them on my Supra...I didnt know anyone wanted to see one apart til I read this thread *hehe*...maybe I'll have to do a lil cutting on one

Fram TG16 installed

Since the Fram 3614's are on recall here in arizona, i put in a FRAM TG16, fits great, just like the TRD.
