Hello,
I was expecting a new born so I sadly had to sell my 2005 X-Runner URD Supercharged Stage 2 with a lot of mods including TRD Big Brake kit. I put everything back to stock and removed all the aftermarket parts and sold it all separately. I sold the X-Runner and picked up a 2015 TRD PRO. I wanted to put on the TRD BBK that was on the X-Runner onto the TRD PRO but it would not fit according to a brake company I talked to. So I sold the TRD BBK.



And look what came in the mail.

The manual wanted me to cut the stock brake shield…I was able to remove the whole piece.

Specs: Front: Forged 6-Piston Aluminum Calipers / 338X32 1-Piece Slotted Discs / Stainless Steel Brake Lines / H2 Ceramic Street Performance Pads.

Kudos for being the first to do this. Land cruiser has a point. Stock brakes are adequate for this power starved truck. When URD releases their supercharger kit for this truck I will consider picking up a set. What are the specs of the rotors? Diameter looks the same. Weight? Why not two piece with aluminum hats? Price?

Rotors are 338x32 to clear 17inch rims. They only reason it's not a 2 piece rotor is due to the 17 inch rims. I don't plan on upgrading the rims. To fit the 2 piece I would need 18 inch rims. The weight of the calipers are half the weight of the factory calipers. MSRP $1995

I'll be the first to bite the bullet and upgrade the unnecessary part! :wink2:

I was hoping TRD would have a S/C kit for this PRO but my hopes are going down. I like to do my upgrades in stages so it doesn't hurt the wallet much. I need BOOST!:panda:

Yeah, I wouldn't hold my breath for a super-anything for the 5th gen.

Makes sense if you're sticking with 17"s. So they were willing to do two piece rotors? If they can go larger but lighter than stock with aluminum hats I may need to look into it...
 
Not sure if your going to take it off road but I tried slotted rotors way back in the day on my '89 runner and in one trip they were trashed due sand , dirt and rocks getting in between the rotor and pads.

The brakes look good, glad you enjoy them. Not sure why you've marketed them to the forum as only being specific to the turd pro

That's the maximum kinetic energy to dissipate without adding a trailer or more weight. The big brakes make it slower marginally. I had tundra brakes on my last 4 runner but I kept warping due to driving a canyon with 4000 vertical feet in 8 miles. But the 5 th gen brakes are much bigger. Is anyone having brake problems?

I'm confused. Why would a supercharger make a bit of difference in brake size? I can already reach the speed governor with ease. That's the maximum kinetic energy to dissipate without adding a trailer or more weight. The big brakes make it slower marginally. I had tundra brakes on my last 4 runner but I kept warping due to driving a canyon with 4000 vertical feet in 8 miles. But the 5 th gen brakes are much bigger. Is anyone having brake problems?

those with larger, heavier tires would benefit from the increased capacity to stop. however being that the factory calipers are already 4 pistons, the most cost efficient method for increasing braking power across the board would be replacing the vacuum booster with a hydro booster and increase the pressure by 300-400%

that said, i don't know if such a pressure increase is compatible with the ABS system and valving and the emergency high pressure reservoir that our trucks are fitted with

Because if you can go faster quicker (non existent SC) you need to be able to stop faster quicker right? No? NO! NOOOOOOO!!!!!!! That's not a law? Oh man, I am so giving up those Civic and Tacoma forums....

I have designed braking systems before and if you want we could bring the 4Runner to a stop in, oh, from 60-0 in maybe 7 feet lol. We would need to make a few mods though....

Seriously, coefficient of friction of rubber on asphalt is the limiting factor. Stock brakes are fine.

would have to forcibly lock the torque converter for compression braking to actually work though. sounds like were talking full driveline replacement.

personally i would rather just like to find out if i could fit my truck with a Hydroboost conversion
