FWIW - I think you're right. It does look like someone cut them short. I'm not sure why someone would do that. It's very strange - the only reason I could think of is if someone was so lazy that they didn't want to fully unthread the nut on them so they cut them off to remove them? You really should get a new set of studs to put in if you can't put a rubber bushing on both sides of the mounting flange. That area needs to flex and it really does need the rubber bushings on both sides. It might work how it is now for a while - but that's not how it should be.

I would make it a priority to have those studs replaced so you can run a proper washer/bushing stack on both sides of the frame.

I had the studs rethreaded but the previous owner(s) may have cut/modified it as it seems a little short. I didn't have all the hardware like the bushings or washers. I had to modify some bushings so I could catch a couple of threads with the nylock nut. Thread pitch was 14 x 2.00. I called RideFox and they said the studs are threaded into the shock so I could have gotten new studs if I had the time to wait for it. I'll just have it serviced once it starts to fail. So far the ride is a little stiffer than XREAS. Nose dive was not noticeable as much as the XREAS. I removed the XREAS completely from my 4Runner. It drives nice and so far I'm liking the "upgrade".

Thanks for the information. Did you change the rear springs, I know the limited have different springs than the other trims. I bought some just in case.

I did the same thing you did, put on some TRD Pro wheels, I almost went with the falken wildpeak as well, but ended up with bfg's, had them on a few Tacoma's and have had good experiences everytime.

I really want to do the trail trim conversion, but it's pricey, so we'll see.
