TRD Pro LIFT? - Flamers Troll A Different Thread...

First, I have seen some talk in TRD Pro thread, but could not find specific answers if they have already been posted...Also, pardon my lack of thorough knowledge on lifts. Here are my questions:

1) If the pic below was taking to the higher notch, would that net .5"? Is this a cheap solution using what already is stock or is more needed? Though, I would want the back lifted the same as well.

I would really prefer this:
2) Is there a good affordable solution to lift both front and back 1" higher than current using current stock parts with minimal cost for additional parts? What would be needed?

Appreciate any feedback! Still loving my TRD Pro!

EDIT: Please note I am not willing to remove TRD parts I paid for. Only wondering if any of the above options would work with current equipment or additional added. It's early on with these TRD's, so figured I would see what if any future options may exist without removing paid for parts.

From what I have seen and read on here, it is not adjustable like the Bilstein 5100. So you are stuck unless you put on a different lift, or put (gasp) spacers on a TRD pro. Why did you want to lift? Looks? Or bigger tires? Being that you paid for the TRD suspension already, I would leave well enough alone.

What notch are you referring to in the photo??

I think he is referring to the other bolt hole next to the lower strut mount but that's not for mounting the strut. I do believe from the pics I've seen the trd struts do have an additional notch on them but I think that's to lower it.

To lift your vehicle you would either need to do small spacers or replace the suspension with something like the OEM light suspension. This would give you 1-1.5 inches of more lift over your stock trd pro suspension. Lifting your 4runner is no different from any other - except that to do it properly will remove most of what makes it a trd pro.

Why do you want more lift?

The pre production. TRD suspension had 3 notches on it and it was set to the 3rd or highest one when the pictures where taken. By the time it went to production Toyota got rid of that 3rd highest notch and only put 2 notches on the front coilovers making it a little lower and only adjustable to go lower.

So, to go higher you can add a spacer (not the best solution but cheap) or buy different suspension

you can either put a spacer on to lift it higher, or replace the entire suspension on it. i'll leave my questioning of why you bought a Pro to replace to the suspension and not to offroad it to the side.

bigger spring?

You paid a premium for a factory installed suspension, I know you don't want people flaming you, but it's the truth of the matter. The most I would do is put a bigger spring, or a coilover kit on it to be able to get a little more height out of it. I would not change out your shocks.

No need to leave your question to the side as you basically said it anyway. The answer to question is I am not trying...

Not wanting to replace suspension. If I could "add" to current set up as I stated and keep what I paid for is what I am wondering. I have no problem adding some funds, but do have a problem removing what I paid for.
So if I could get a more exaggerated lift with either of two questions I originally posted I would. If not, she stays as I purchased her. By the way, still badass.

I think you are one of the first TRDPro guys to admit it is for looks so congratulations for having the balls to do that and not try to justify it like so many of them do. I respect that. Seriously.

Spacer lift will be fine. Problem with that is the current OEM shock could top out on the down extension and that would be a problem. If you keep it on the road you should never have that problem though. Spacers are cheap too.

One last thing: Using words like "flame" and "troll" in the title of your thread just attracts. If you have a problem with any post in this whole forum I suggest you just stick to asking the dealer questions or else grow some thicker skin. You are putting a comment on the internet in a public forum - you can't control who answers although sometimes it would be nice. There is an "ignore" feature you could use. Again, problem with that is most of the guys who know their stuff (for real not internet experts) like to joke around too and have thick skin.

I do have thick skin, I really don't give a shit what most say on the internet. I have been on forums for about 10 years now.
Obviously, a TRD Pro "lift" question has an even higher propensity to bring them out in droves. I did not care to hear from the same haters that keep popping in on the other TRD Pro thread. Figured, might as well try to avoid it if possible, so far so good :bravo: Of course, they are free to comment as am I.

More importantly, thank you for your insight. I do go off road though, just not the serious stuff (big rocks, etc.). I like the mud and dirt! I will likely pop into my local 4x4 shop, see what they have to say, report back, get thoughts.

If you want a little more I would do a toytec 1/2" spacer up front. Should net you about 3/4" more lift and for the rear a pair of 10mm OME rear spacers for around a 1/2" of lift.

its like spending $2k on a set of 5100s that dont adjust LMAO

Except not 5100's, bigger. People also buy the 5100's and set them at 0 with 2 inch lift springs all the time, so you buy an adjustable shock and not adjust them?

just realized a 5100 coil over kit won't work because they are thicker, but I would still go for bigger spring

Sorry OP for the Side Note, and definitely not flaming you or your Pro:
Stifler I'm thinking the TRD Pro Suspension shock & valving is actually more in line with what Bilstein's 6112 Series are that are due out in 1-15', but Bilstein has gone a step further and putting all 4 notches for full lift to be obtained, for a lot less $$$. (0-2.5" on the Bilsteins 6112 Kit)

Happy to see that, because I want the shocks, but a heavier spring, so th new kit will fit what I want a bit better.

How much is "a lot less $$$"? the suspension is $1500 with front coils, obviously more if you buy it installed on the trd pro

^ Who gives a "if you see Kay"?!
You would think it was a Jeep or something....but now that you better about yourself the conversation can progress forward.
