TRD Pro LIFT? - Flamers Troll A Different Thread...

Hey guys,

Pulled the trigger on a Toytec lift spring kit. The fronts will come with a 600lb spring rate which is pretty close to stock. I'm sure the 2.5" lift it gives in the front should be pretty doable given that Tacoma's use the same shock and get 2" of lift without any issues, so an extra 1/2" of travel should be fine given TRD has been marketing at least an extra inch or so of down travel vs stock.

Not too sure on the rear coils. I should have been more conservative and gotten a SAW 1.5" rear lift but if worse comes to worse I can always upgrade the rear shocks.

You can expect some details in the next couple weeks as I install a front only top plate spacer lift (extra inch or so in the front) paired with the OEM TRDP front shocks/springs, and the complete spring upgrade from above. I'll post measurement details and also post specs on the springs if you want to reference them for experimenting with different spring weights etc.

Looking forward to your results. I'm looking for at least a 2 inch front / 1 inch rear gain and hoping I can go the spring route instead of spacers and retain the stock bills on my trdp.

I was contemplating this found on the 5th Gen Lift Buyer's thread BEST SELLER! 3" FJ Lift Kit w/spacers and rear ToyTec coils but I'd rather go springs all around.

Question to the gurus, will these work on the trdp bills? Adjustable Front Coil Over Kit for Bilstein Shocks 2010+

Thanks

These won't fit the trd pro shocks. You have a 60mm shock and these are for the bilstien 5100 that are a 46mm shock.

Hey guys,

I wanted to revive this as I'm looking for something slightly taller myself.

Toytec currently makes a bottom plate spacer for the Baja TX front Bilstein that yields approx. 1" of additional lift but will make the ride a bit firmer. The TX Baja shares the same shock body as the TRD Pro, with different spring rates and valving. This might be the best way to get the original post-production TRD Pro lift before they omitted the third adjustment point. It's pictured on the right below. It will affect the ride height as it preloads the spring, but it won't be detrimental as the pre-production TRD Pro was just as high. The left is what the TRD Pro comes with (except pictured on the TX Baja).

Another option for a very mild lift would be to install a 1/2 Toytec top plate spacer which yields about 3/4" lift. The top plate spacers are reported to not change any ride qualities which may benefit those looking to retain factory ride feel but want a better lift. Of the two, these will work the best as it won't affect the spring preload.

I'm currently looking into a custom front spring at near-factory spring rates without relying on spacers for a lift. I'm afraid the Toytec 620lbs (yielding a 2.5" lift) may be a little firm for me. I believe the TRD spring rate may be closer to 550lb but have no way of verifying without sending it out for analysis or having access to measuring equipment. I'm investigating whether a taller spring with OEM TRD spring rates may yield a higher lift without sacrificing ride quality or having to run spacers.

Unfortunately I have to dedicate some downtown for this as it means obtaining the non compressed free height of the spring. If someone has beaten me to the punch please feel free to share your data so I don't have to.

Rear spring options are pretty much good to go as there are a number of different options (SAW 1.5, Icon 2.0, etc.). Fronts are where we are limited if we want to retain the TRD Bilsteins since most manufacturers are opting to utilize coilovers.

This gent has the answer!

I was thinking of making one of these for my 6112's so I could hit "in between" positions. I wasn't aware that Toytec made this perch, but it sure is good to know for anyone with that diameter shock with the circlip system.

Excellent find!

i've added the toytec 3/4" front top spacer. it has brought the nose up to a smidge under level with the back, and it doesn't compress the front coils at all.

for now, that's it for me.

however - i could see the day where i completely change out the suspension. i'm totally fine with that and don't see that as a waste of money at all - in the interim (3-5 years) the stock TRDP set up will have provided me with capability and utility not available in any other model, and that is worth it to me.

Any info on where you picked the spacers up? Thanks in advance!

What was your solution in the back?
I have a 2015 LE with daystar spacers that level the truck out nicely but when ANYTHING is loaded in a reverse rake starts to appear. I'm looking to add on an RTT that will surely bring some sag as well plus all the coolers amassed in the cargo area.
My shop said they would look into options but were not sure sure what is available with the x-reas. Can I keep the spacer and change the coils? If so, what kind? Or is an airlift 1000 an option with x-reas AND the spacer?
Just to squash any suggestions for a mod that's more expensive or invasive - I lease the damn thing. The spacer was approved by my dealership who uses this local shop for all the work. I went directly.
Thanks for the help.

This thread was entertaining to say the least.

Looking myself for a slight lift on a TRD PRO to compensate for additional weight. Thinking I'll grab that Toytec lift spring kit! Looks like a solid solution... as I also want to keep the TRD pkg mostly in play for now.

Thanks all for the read/info!

Didn't read the whole thread either but I just bought my 2016 TRDPro almost a month ago and didn't waste time ordering the toytec TRDPro lift. I spoke with Scott over at toytec and he recommend using this lift until the stock TRDPro suspension wears out. Then fully upgrade. The owner of toytec uses this lift on his TRDPro. I already ordered mine and it should be here Wednesday :thumb:

Till it wears out? I have the extended 100k warranty...looks like the suspension might outlast my ownership.

I have the extended warranty as well but I don't plan to try to get Toyota to warranty out my suspension when it starts to die.
