Trd pro lift question

Has anyone installed the sss bumper without the wench? Curious if it will effect the suspension. Think it weighs around 70lb. Just curious since I have the toytec lift in my trd I didn't know if I should look into anything for the front so I didn't lose the lift.

The Toytec 2" lift looks great on all the TRD Pros! Glad I found this post. A couple of questions:

• Does it raise the TRD Pro front an additional 2" to 3" total, or is it 2" total including the stock 1" lift?
  
• Any rubbing with the lift and 285/70-17 tire combo? I'm leaning towards 275/70-17 tires with the stock wheels, my main hesitation with 285 is safety on the stock 7". Maybe it's not an issue, there seems to be mixed opinions about it.

Thanks for the quick reply! I think my decision is made on the lift, now just have to figure out the tires. I have about 9K on my 265 Duratracs, so I may wait on new tires for now.

I rubbed the driver front section of the fender liner with this lift and 285/70 BFG KO2's on stock wheels with no spacers. Quick heat gun and xacto knife fixed it. Its a small section so nothing to worry about.
I wouldn't hesitate buying this kit. Ride is maybe a touch stiffer than stock which I'm happy about. Braking when stock it nose dove hard. Still does but not as bad. Looks amazing. I get tons of compliments on it and everyone stares at it going down the road. Atleast that is what the GF says.
Tires are amazing. I had a set of the first gens on a truck of mine so i kinda knew what to expect. First off my Pro had been back to toyota for vibration at highway speeds. They balanced the tires and said all was ok. Ive had a set of terra grapplers before and had the same issue. They just didn't track straight or ride smooth for a not very aggressive tire. I hated them because of that. Not to mention they sucked off pavement. Not that they did good on pavement lol.
After replacing them with the KO2's my ride is smooth and off road its very nice. Tires clean well and track good.They provide high confidence. Im running 32psi front 30 psi rear. Full contact up front and just short of full contact in the rear by a few cm's. Will drop the rear down to 28 or 29 and run chalk test over.

Just got it home, feels great, tracks great. They insisted aligning it and I wasn't about to argue. I didn't ask if it was out or by how much. I freaking love it!

It sounds like people have had success with 285/70/17 tires with this lift. Anyone tried 285/75/17? I will probably pull the trigger on this kit to get some bigger tires on my TRD Pro but trying to figure out how big I can go without any rubbing.

I have 285/70/17 with this lift kit and i have slight rub under load. More specifically when the front end dives during turns. I am in the process of installing a CBI rear bumper so I am curious to see if that will even out the weight and stop the rubbing. I am also going to do the inner fender mod so that should eliminate it completely.

You are making my mind up as to what to add next.

I have the Toytec mild lift kit for the TRD pro coming in hopefully next week. I went with the lower rear lift SAW for 1-1/2" and the shortage of stock on that spring along with Sway Away moving their facilities delayed the shipping.

Still using the stock TRDP Front coil-overs? I know you posted that the Toytec 2" lift kit was put in but I was asking in terms of the bumper and winch adding weight to the front affecting the ride with the original Eibach TRD-tuned coil-spring up front?

Did you ever get installed? I am interested to see what the Saw 1 1/2 looks like before I order.

The rear springs didn't get in until late December.

I had an ABS, BRAKE, Slip indicator light along with a blinking Terrain-Select light come up that after much chasing at the dealership turned out to be the LED front Headlights. I plan on putting the rear Sway Away 1 1/2" springs in this coming Sunday night The shop is scheduled to do the front coil-overs and alignment on Monday the 11th.

I will post pictures as soon as I can after that.

I've seen a few opinions on this topic. Simply soliciting a few more as I'm having second thoughts.

2016 TRD Pro. I have the Toytec 2" lift kit (not installed yet). Mostly planned the 2" lift to compensate for 4x4 Labs front/rear bumper weight (not installed yet.) The rear lift is a stiffer spring... So I think I'm ok (in my mind) there. As for the front. The spacers lift but now I'm questioning if the front bumper + winch weight will challenge the 'lifted' factory components in a somewhat compressed state. After putting a few hundred miles on the factory set up, I am questioning my thinking up front.

Any thoughts on a different plan up front? Or should I be ok? I'm not planning any 'big' tire upgrades. But I will use this truck to get out in the sticks.

Very nice! And same thing, I get many compliments and many stares haha. Toyota did a great job with this one.

I was tempted to go with the 285/70-17 BFG KO2 tires as well, but I spoke to a BFG rep and he said it can be a safety issue mounting them on 7" rims. I'm sure they're just protecting themselves and the margin for the "safe" width is wider than advertised, but this is my family car so I don't want to take any chances.

I'm deciding between a set of 275/70-17 BFG KO2 or 275/70-17 Goodyear MT/R, sounds like everyone has good things to say about the KO2's. I currently have 265/70-17 Duratracs, but I feel they slip in the slightest bit of rain.

Anyone have experience with the MT/R's?

I just installed the SSS Slimline and a Warn Zeon with this lift. In total thats about an additional 150lbs on the front end. So far I have no real issues. The front will rub slightly at full lock but as mentioned before can be fixed with a heat gun and knife. The piece that rubs is a bad design anyway and takes up needless space with the right angle design. The front is definately softer with the factory front springs and you can feel the dive a little more while braking but nothing that I think is a deal breaker for the lift/accessory combo. Beyond running this setup I think the only real options are replacing the spring with some stiffer OME's which defeats the TRD suspension design or replace with a full coilover like Icon or OME. Hope this helps.

So I'm thinking about getting the Toytec Lift kit for my 16' TRD PRO. From what I have read everyone seems to like them and don't cause any issues with rub.

Can anyone tell me an estimate of how much it would be to install? Sadly I don't have the tools or skills to change them myself, and even with instructions and tools I'd rather let a professional do it when it comes to this type of mod.

I did check around before deciding to install myself. Price was around 500 with an alignment. Doing it yourself isn't hard at all.

If you'd prefer to pay, here's what I did on a similar install...

Take the parts to bigO. Have then remove the struts and add the spacers and use the longer bolts in the front. Should take them under 2 hours to take apart and put back together. The rear springs are a no brainer...5 minutes each side. BigO didn't even charge me, just had to tip the guy for doing the work. Ended up giving him $100 which was a lot cheaper than anywhere else.

If you just wanted to pay for it at a shop, it'll probably be somewhere around 500-600.
