TRD Pro vs SR5 height

people have done the measurements (they are posted in the TRD pro thread somewhere) -

the front end of the TRD pro is approximately one inch higher than the trail (not sure how the trail and SR5 compare).

no difference in the rear.

Is the TRD Pro only .5" taller than an SR5 even with the entirely different suspension?

It's a shock/skid/grill/paint package. Nothing else. An "entirely different suspension" would be something like the Icon Stage 6 or 7 (Complete Suspension Systems - ICON Vehicle Dynamics). The PRO Bilsteins are larger diameter to allow for faster running off road without shock fade. Other than that if you're not into going faster off road you can get more out of the already readily available several other options that are out there. The TRD Pro is a "Package". While a very nice off the floor package it is not Toyota nirvana. Those generally need to be built up to.

Gents - there's an inferno TRD Pro on cars.com that is giving me a woody.

My 2013 TE has some small clearance between the roof rack and the the garage door.

Would you mind me asking where are you measuring these heights?

(I suppose I could take off the rack - On the Xterra, I read somewhere that when you take off the rack, you open a hole for water to get into the cabin.)

the Pro will be shorter than your 2013 Trail. the 10-13 Trail roof rails were a couple inches taller than the standard rack that is now featured on all 4Runner trim levels.

a Pro will actually give you more clearance to the garage door than you have now.

I did the measurement today at the Toyota dealership. TRD PRO is 1" taller at the front AND rear. People saying no difference at the rear is incorrect.

TRD PRO suspension do not share any components with other 4runner trims from the factory. Might be similar but they have different part numbers so it isn't 100% the same.

4 year old thread man! That being said, are you measuring from Hub to fender?

4 year old thread means people who got it wrong 4 years ago should figured out by now that they had it wrong. People back in the days thought Earth was flat and we figured out by now that we were wrong back then.

Yes center hub cap to the fender flare. Who the F doesn't know measuring from the ground to fender flare is inaccurate? Different tire size or even low air pressure will makes the measurement inaccurate.

There are a lot of variables that can alter this. Was the sr5 a third row? was the off-road a kdss? how much gas did it have? If you want to get down to some "accurate measurements", can you accurately describe the different variables between each vehicle other than "oh it's an sr5, or oh it's a trd offroad". I don't know why people are so stressed over the numbers. What is that one inch really going to do for you in the real world?

One important thing to note. The suspension in the Pro changed in 2019. The older Bilstein manufactured Pro suspension was (per Toyota) 1" lift in the front, nothing in the rear.
You're measuring the newer Fox set up.

Slow your role new guy.

Can you see what the paint codes are on the rear springs of a new TRD Pro? That would clear up any confusion about the height of the new Pro rear. Paint codes are painted on the front of the spring. So you'd find them peeking back and up from the inside front of the rear tire. if that makes sense :)

You do know that the pro had a different suspension pre 2019.

yes I am aware. The older TRD PRO uses Bilstein shocks. The newer uses FOX suspension I've heard. Are you suggesting for me to measure a older TRD PRO and an older SR5 rear lift height? I can bet you money that it'll probably still be a difference. The parts (rear springs) are not 100% the same. That's what Toyota dealership parts/accessory department people told me.

If it makes you feel better go for it lol. Should have done that first before posting your findings on a 2019 pro on a thread discussing the 2015 Pro.

Ask them for the part numbers. That's all you need to do. If it's a different part, it has a different number. It's that easy. Ideally have the parts department pull one out of each spring and take a photo side by side. If '19+ are different, it would be interesting to know what the spring rate is and how long they are.

The '18 and prior TRD Pro and all other models had 6 wrap coils with pink and orange paint. They were the same springs. I don't think there's any dispute about that.

Or take a peek underneath and see what paint marking the springs have. Toyota paint marks springs with color codes. If they have different paint codes - they probably are different. If they're the same - they're the same springs.

you know. I might have to agree with you on that. Before I make any judgement/statement it's best for to measure the older 2015 TRD PRO first so I'll have an idea, or I might sound like an idiot lol. Before I call anybody wrong with their measurements, there's no reasons for people or anyone to intentionally post wrong measurement on purpose. So yes the older TRD PRO probably don't have difference at the rear compare to SR5.

I personally have a 2016 4x4 SR5 Premium with third row. It measures 21.5inch from center cap to fender flare. The 2019 TRD PRO measures 22.5inch center cap to fender flare.
