TRD Update

4Runner sales have spiked since the "turd" gen Tacoma came out because of its endless list of problems and complaints from owners so it's highly unlikely Toyota will be removing the current gen from the lineup (rumor mill). I just wish they would have kept Cement and/or Quicksand as a continued color option like they did with the Taco and Tundra. These standard colors are a bit dated now. Also make JBL audio available and not just in the Limited.

I feel like no one listens to me.

It's a new color as well...from what I've heard on the new color, it comes off as a lime green at best. Think 1980s green Pinto

Toyota: There’s just not enough interest in body on frame trucks and SUVs.

Also Toyota: are the same versions of the same old vehicles except with minor cosmetic tweaks ready yet? We need to put them on a mountain somewhere and then take a drone photograph of them from 2 miles away.

Outside Loretto, BCS. And filmed with a real helicopter.

I can't openly violate anything I may or may not have signed. However...if someone wants to PM me (emphasis on ONE), I'll give you a tip off, and then in february that person can verify I wasn't blowing smoke.

Interesting contrast of the sales decline on the 4th gen as it got older vs increase in sales with 5th gen aging, especially once it got a facelift in 14'

That’s because consumers had the FJ cruiser and a pretty decent Tacoma to choose from back then.

Now the FJ cruiser is gone and the Tacoma sucks.

PM sent. I already know what the changes entail, so we will see if you know everything or not. :P

Good point! Didn't think about the FJ. I had an 07' which was fun a while but I got over dealing with those suicide doors and the dysfunctional rear barn door

I worked on the edits for the commercial this still frame was pulled from.

It's a factory option that brings it in line with the more international markets. It's really not as exciting as you'd think. Sorry to play coy.

I think this is the most cryptic statement out of the entire thread, because the 4runner is NOT an international model.

Therefore any changes that would bring it in line with international markets would have to be somehow based on the international model Land Cruiser Prado which can share engine and transmission and other drivetrain bits.

That is my ridiculous, baseless, and uninformed speculation.

Also, this means no new model.

Likely: revised pro package
Long shot: picks up 6AT like LC Prado did recently.
Longer shot: new engine.

There is enough chatter out on the web about the 4Runner going to TNGA-F platform that it is probably true. That won’t be ready for a bit, though.

Well, that's where you're wrong, Kiddo! Sorry I can't violate an NDA.

New Saudi version!

Because they ran out of FJ Cruisers to launch off of sand dunes at 70 miles an hour.

The bump stops are 50% longer!

The horn also plays a call to prayer.

It's way waaaay less exciting than that. I'll just say that it brings things in line with some of the other models in terms of OEM components, add another component, and has parity in regards to how Toyota outfits some of their vehicles in their other global market segments.

I will say that there's no major changes under the hood. People can stop worrying. Your mall crawlers won't be made obsolete anytime soon.

Again you can come back to these posts in 3 weeks and see that while I'm being vague I'm not blowing smoke. I'm just intentionally not trying to say "It will have X Y and Z."

However Quentin can verify what I've said. If you need someone to say "yep he actually showed me his cards."

Based off your cryptic message :) I would say the TRD Pro now gets a Sunroof and the 6 speed from the recent Prato update? The tranny isn’t under the hood is it? lol .... From the picture the 4Runner still has Halogen Headlights. Very curious if there is any interior aka Nav/Stereo updates.
Also interested if these are mid year 2018 updates or early release info on the 2019 models.

Lastly it’s long been rumored of another TRD Pro Tundra in 2019 and there is obviously a Tundra in the picture.
