In line with the tacoma meaning that Fox Shocks are standard on those TRD Pros Tacos.

a factory snorkel option is very cool, and helps to blunt the "appearance package" epithets lobbed sorta deservedly at the Pro otherwise.

i do wonder what'll happen if Toyota sells a bunch of snorkeled Pros to buyers who've not even figured out part-time 4WD and can now get into even more trouble... suffering the delusion that they're rolling in an amphibious vehicle.

Damn you and [MENTION=146684]WallyT4R[/MENTION]! I've been leaning more and more toward the T4R Pro. It's looking like I'd save about 15K that way vs 2016 LC200 and mods are certainly cheaper for the T4R. I've never owned either. I'm going from a 2015 Sierra Denali and got the off road/exploration love from adventure motorcycling. Is the LC that much of a superior vehicle to the 4Runner?
 
Lame or not I still love it. Factory installed “appearance cosmetic package” seems to boil some blood here lol.

Let’s see these updates on T4R Pro plus new special color and I’m trading my ‘17 Pro for one of these.

Warranty will be covering all new updates which is a big plus for me.

Well of course this is all my opinion. The 4 is nice but it's not LC nice. The LC also has that sweet 5.7 V8. Coming from a Denali you might not like the power of the 4runner. It has enough power for whatever but it's not V8 power. Over all the LC is of course a nicer vehicle. But...15K less for the 4runner? Thats a lot of money man. I think with that much of a difference in price I would also lean towards the 4runner, put $5K into mods, and invest the rest.

With that said, if you are going to get the 4runner and mod the hell out of it, you can save a lot more on a 4runner if you don't get the PRO. Modding a PRO is like paying for things twice. The PRO is just a Trail Edition/now OFF-road edition, with some appearance items attached to it. You can save an additional $5K at least by going with a Off-road vs the PRO.

I bought my Trail for $35K out the door saving me $7k over a PRO model at MSRP. $7k buys a lot of mods. So if you plan on modding a PRO it is smarter to buy a OFF-road instead. But if you are going to get a PRO and NOT mod it then that is the way I would go IMO because of good resale. Hope all this makes sense. :)

So basically, factory snorkel (only available when ordering on a new build), roof rack (similar to a baja rack), and the 4Runner becomes in-line with the Taco TRD Pro in that billsteins are gone and it uses Fox 2.0 shocks (so basically the same level of shock as the Billsteins, just without the problems they've had with those). A few other tiny things here and there.

Me as well. Looks like optional Snorkel, optional Rack, standard Fox Shocks.... Do the Fox Shocks have a higher factory lift this year?

What are the other little items?

I've already said enough. They're not worth mentioning.

And the fox shocks replicate the same amount of lift as the previous setup.

[MENTION=145313]SoonerDPT[/MENTION] i vigorously encourage you to test drive all the vehicles under consideration. not that you wouldn't per se, but coming from the Denali you may have a hard time adjusting to the 4Runner -vs- the obvious power on tap in the 200.

and as Wally said, absolutely yes, if you think you're going to go big on mods just get a Trail (Off Road) because you'll be tearing out the "Pro" bits you'd have already paid a pretty premium for anyway. that is, unless you're absolutely in love with the special color of the Pro... but if you're the kind of person willing to pay a premium for a paint color, and a 200 is remotely doable for your budget, just get the damn 200!

i love my Trail, but Land Cruiser is an icon for a reason.

ps: unlike the Pro, the 4Runner Off Road has an available KDSS option, which is standard equipment on the 200
 
The big question is what Toyota will do for the earlier Pro owners.. say you go in for Bilstein problems while under warranty--are they going to maintain a supply chain with Bilstein or switch to Fox? Offer VIN-based 'upgrades' to the new system?

I bought a 2018 Pro a couple of months ago, and while it is absolutely perfect as it is and only the internet makes me think I "need" to change anything about it, it's always a bit frustrating when manufacturers basically call mea culpa after they've been selling something for a while.

I use my Pro about as aggressively as anyone can use a $4x,000 daily driver and I bought it under the auspice of not needing to mod it, tinker with suspension or other mods, etc. and it has absolutely met my expectations so far. Will be interesting to see what all changes are made (I care not about the snorkel) and how it affects the holy and vaunted RESALE VALUE :dammit:
 
4Runner TRD Pro: The Legend Grows

4Runner needs no introduction. The iconic SUV is one of the most legendary off-road vehicles in Toyota’s history. For 2019, TRD Pro takes 4Runner’s world-renowned trail capability to the next level.

4Runner’s Fox shocks not only enhance its off-road performance but, paired with the TRD-tuned front springs, the package lifts its front 1 inch compared to other grades, while also providing nearly 1 inch of additional wheel travel. The 2.5-inch front shocks employ 46 mm pistons and include 7 bypass zones (4 compression, 3 rebound). In the rear, the 2.5-inch Fox shocks feature 11 bypass zones (7 compression, 4 rebound) to fine-tune the low- and high-speed compression, and 2-inch piggyback reservoirs house additional oil to retain damping performance when it’s needed most. A unique TRD roost shield offers additional protection for the inverted shock design in the rear.

4Runner adds a new roof rack for stashing additional gear outside of the cabin (say, dirty gear or laundry after a weekend camping trip).The 1/4-inch-thick front skid plate also sports new red TRD lettering. 4Runner features 17-inch matte-black TRD alloy wheels with an offset change to provide it with nearly a 1-inch wider track front and rear for added stability. Nitto Terra Grappler P265/70R17 A/T tires provide all-terrain performance for whatever the situation demands.

Like Tacoma, 4Runner TRD Pro passengers can jam to tunes from a new-for-2019 standard Entune Premium JBL Audio with Integrated Navigation and App Suite. Other interior appointments include TRD Pro floor mats, TRD shift knob, and red-stitched Softex seats with red TRD logos on the front headrests. Additional TRD Pro exterior features include LED fog lights, blacked-out TOYOTA grille, and projector-beam headlights with smoked trim.
