TRD Update

I don't think or am convinced the wheels or the offset is new. Toyota has had similar verbiage for the last few years.
4Runner features 17-inch matte-black TRD alloy wheels with an offset change to provide it with nearly a 1-inch wider track front and rear for added stability.
Those wheels have always had a different offset and wider track haven't they?

Only thing i am wishing my 2018 had is the JBL Sound System.

Are the Fox Shocks an improvement over the Bilsteins? Reviews of the Fox on the Tacoma haven't been great and some news outlets today have said they think the performance on the Bilsteins are better or are concerned about the move to Fox?

Lastly keep in mind these are 2019 models, so Toyota could change a few things as far as equipment, features, options, etc by the time these get released. We are at least 6-7 months away from that happening.
They may even add a Snorkel option to the 4Runner, change head unit, etc.
In the video the 4Runner had minimalist rock sliders on it. Hopefully Toyota comes out with some additional accessories this year also.

The way the news release reads, seems like the roof rack is standard equipment?

oof. dumping the FJ's old POS roof rack on the 4Runner is just proof positive to me that Toyota is phoning it in with the TRD Pro. i mean, honestly...

i realize i'm not the audience here, and i'm sure folks will trample one another like Filene's Basement's "Running of the Brides" wedding gown sale, eager to shut-up-and-take-my-more-than-MSRP to get one. i don't begrudge the buyer getting what they want, or Toyota selling what they can.

i've said from the start that TRD Pro is a masterstroke of marketing from a company that's historically sucked pretty hard at marketing. i just wish it felt less like such a veneer. Toyota's original 5th Gen ethos was bringing the 4Runner "Back To Its Roots" (some of us can remember back that far) but now that they've started to slap "TRD" willy-nilly on other trims it's begun to feel more like:

You are correct. The TRDP already has a wider tread width.

Things change (packages/content) 6-7 months before production all the time. Also Lawndart has already seen a production 4Runner with a snorkel. (clean air intake) I am not saying this is going to happen but it is definitely a possibility.
 
I can't believe Toyota came up with an update that makes me like a TRDPro even less.

Roof Rack - Garbage
JBL Audio - Same stupid system from the current 5th gen with a JBL sticker
Seats - Ugly logo on everything
Key - Does the TRDPro still require the giant stabbing key? OR for all that money can I finally get keyless entry?
Wheels & Skidplate - who cares

Suspension - Sure I'd love to have this on my truck over my stock Trail suspension, but I can update that on my own if I want it and I don't have to remove all the ugly badging and stupid rack from an old FJ to get it.

Really pathetic update especially considering what Ford just put out with the baby raptor.

Regardless of all that, I'll bet my left kidney that people will pay over $50k in Orange County California this fall to get their hands on the new TRDBro.
 
It's pretty obvious Toyota is just killing time while they develop the next gen 4runner... it would be stupid to pour any more money into this platform, just think about it. Did you expect a major overhaul on an old chassis? They're probably trying to decide what direction to take, in the meantime, put some lipstick on it and stall another year. No brainer.

As far as what TRD is, I'm just happy they're selling enough to keep interest... makes future models possible, posers or not.
 
I’m not one that likes to waste time commenting on something that I think is ugly but that roof rack is absolutely horrible. No sunroof coupled with a half roof rack? Should have at least dug the original trail roof rack out of storage and redirected that one instead of the FJ rack

Have you ever owned an FJ with that roof rack? I have had an 08. That roof rack looks great on an FJ and there was no wind noise whats so ever from it.

Shit I used to haul around my 18 foot kevlar tandem kayak with that half roof rack and it worked perfectly.

I'm not going to judge how it looks on the Runner until I see it in person. I'm assuming it is made with the same raw materiels that the FJ one was made with, but it's not the same one. The FJ's roof has a pretty good curve to it and the Runner does not.

Anyways, just do what I did and trade in your Pro for 1k less then you paid for it with 25k on the clock and get a Land Cruiser! Best decision I ever made.

No hate from me..

If the MSRP stays the same, without taking into consideration dealer mark up, I think these parts add value. I just put an order down for a 2018, and if the 19's end up costing the same I feel like I would have lost out on the sound system, LED fogs, and roof rack.

Gawd, that roof basket is a bit much. If I was in the market for a '19, I would take delivery at night and drive straight to my garage, where I would perform my first mod....basket delete!
