Hey, how did you go about painting your door handles? I think they look awesome painted black and I want to do this on my white 4runner, just can't think of an easy way to do it. If you could tell me your technique it would be greatly appreciated.

i removed them off of the doors, that way i could paint all of it. it was fairly easy. the front driver and pass handles come off with just a few screws. and the rears you have to take the door panel off and remove them from inside the door.
as for paint i used krylon fusion satin black, and then a simple clear coat.
if you choose to go the route of removing them before painting i can make a how to video if needed. some people just mask off the areas and paint them while still on the truck. i just dont trust overspray so i dont do it that way.

Cool, thanks for the info. I will prob try it sometime this week, sounds easy enough. So you can take of the front door handles w/o removing the inner door panel?

the front driver and passanger yes. the rear driver and pass the inside door panel has to be removed to get to the bolt. here are the links i followed to do it.

And good vid btw, I've taken the door panels off plenty of times to do speaker work, but I could never get the door handle cables detached so I always had to hang the panel on something close to the door and it was extremely obnoxious lol. Know I can remove it all the way next time I'm messin' around down there

Removed running boards
this past week, i decided to start noticing how much i actually use my running boards compared to how much they get in the way. and i realized the only time i use them is when i am getting out, my calf runs along it. and i thought... that is irritating... so i removed them. i like the fact that they are not there anymore, but i dont really like the look. i am not a fan of how you can see so much underneath. so itll be a trial run for now.

I like how 4runner's look w/o the boards, I took mine off a long time ago. I know what you mean about stuff hanging down, and that is a bit annoying, but you really can't even notice it unless you're bending over to look under the car. Plus, I like how it makes the car look higher off the ground lol

Painted some interior
so today i decided to paint some inside pieces taking gateroses advice. i used the vinyl and fabric spray. and it turned out pretty darn well. i am questioning how long itll hold up against scratchs. but theres always touch up. haha. overall it was pretty easy. Driver side Panel under steering wheel was easy to remove. the glovebox was easy. kinda had to just guess how to remove it. i knew how to get to the part of the air filter... then you just push. i would have to say the hardest part of it all was masking under the door panel handle. anyways, heres the pics!
will probably do the front door panels tomorrow. and next big purchase is probably going to be tint and coverkings. i got the steering wheel cover today to match my soon to have seat covers.

Nice looks good. I may have to do mine now since the dogs have scratched them up pretty badly.
That dye should hold up fine, like I said I've had it in my Z71 for almost 7 years and I've been rough on that truck. The only problem I ever had was in a couple spots where I left air bubbles, but I just scraped it off & dyed again.
Btw, did the floormats ever soften back up after the dye?

the floor mats definitely did soften up. but they rubbed off where there is most traffic. youll be able to see em in the next post. all of them held up well except the driver, obviously the most traffic on it. i am probably going to spray it again.

not long at all. removing the door panels took 10 min for the fronts and 5 for the rears. then just a rub down with alcohol. the longest part was masking the door panels. but id say 3 hrs or so total.

i realized i had some paint left to do something small... so i starting looking around in my truck and was like HEY! why not paint that!? so i did. i will say, it scared the nonsense out of me pulling it out. i searched and searched on here and everyone said it was just clips. so i pulled, and you have to pull HARD, but when that first pop happened. aaaah... :wow: it made me quiver. and i took off the sunglasses holder to be sure to paint everything, and loser me forgot to look at how the spring was on there, so now i cant get the spring back in, which isnt bad, it just opens realllllly slow. maybe ill add some small weights, should take care of it.
also, i am debating if the paint will work on the visor... i see it clipping off when squeezed. but there is only one way to find out. so i might give that a try right now. hmmm. wonder if i can just buy black visors? hmmmmmm
