I just swapped out the JBL NAV headunit and replaced it with an aftermarket HU using the PAC-TATO adapter to allow the use of the OEM amplifier. I had left the DVD NAV computer still connected in the rear for a short time till it came time to pull it out of the way to do the sound deadener.
Once out...I figured I didn't need it anyway since I no longer had the OEM HU...so I left it out. Well, I noticed that the next day after I took it out that the front drivers side speakers weren't working anymore. After scratching my head a bit, I realized it had to have something to do with the voice guided NAV which used the drivers front speaker to blurt out directions.
Just this weekend after finally completing all the deadening/insulating I tried to prove what I thought and reconnected the main plug back to the DVD NAV unit...and wala, the front drivers speaker works again. Well, I don't want to have to keep the DVD unit in the vehicle JUST to be able to hear the drivers speaker, so I checked out the wiring diagram for the main plug into the DVD unit and found this:
So check me here on my thought process. I can see on the plug that goes into the DVD unit...the two pair of wires, (green & blue ones marked in the diagram as AUO- AUO+ & AUI- AUI+). This translates to me as AUDIO IN and AUDIO OUT and those outputs lead to the drivers speaker.
Anyone else think that simply jumping these terminals in the plug (green to green-blue to blue) will allow the signal to get to the speaker without connecting the DVD unit to the plug completely???
