Trim Bumpstop question (airlift)

In the middle of installing an airlift kit. Directions seemed to indicate the bumpstops are cut at the first 'joint', basically leaving the bumptstop a flat disk sitting on top of the spring. Then the directions seem to indicate with it's diagram that the first section of bumpstop is left attached and airbag is touching both the bumpstop and lower disk included with kit.

I've cut at the first joint from the top, but would prefer not to put it all together if there is supposed to be one section still left on the stop (and can get more oem bump stops if needed).

Everything I've found searching just says cut the bumpstops, apparently I'm the only one confused with the directions dammit.

Appreciate any insight.

You aren't the only one! When I installed mine I had the same exact question. The picture is misleading. I cut mine so it's basically a flat disk like you described. It's been that way for a few years with no problems. The bag will touch both ends when the springs have weight on them again.

Lol. Thanks for the reply, I went ahead after finding some older posts, one of which was your installation. All in and seem to work great. Raise the rear 1.5 as it sits so will just measure again with a bike on the back, got some angry drivers the first night I hauled a bike after dark, didn't think the rear would sag that much.

I've also followed your thread on the underseat sub. I installed one of them under each seat but for whatever reason I find them to have too much mid bass while all mids/highs up front are all done by the Infinitys. tomorrow I pull the one sub under the passenger and tap in to install a 5 channel and will run 6x9 full range in the doors to bring the stage up more, and a small 12 inch in a narrow enclosure rather than ripping out the stock jbl, hopefully I'll find that low octave I'm missing.

As with everyone else here, appreciate the time you've taken to document everything, makes it easier for those of us just getting around to updating our 4runners, then changing them as we see fit.
