Trivial Pursuits: I Don't have a Tissue holder....

Maybe others of you are like me...you find yourself idly browsing through the T4R forums, and you come across a thread that says something about a tissue box holder in the center console. ("I have a tissue box holder in my center console?") ....You go out to the garage, flip up the center console, and don't understand how it might work...you go back to the forum and search "tissue"....another 30 minutes later, you find a thread with a PHOTO!....("I don't remember seeing that in my armrest!") Another trip to the garage. Open the owners manual...sure enough, there's a paragraph about a tissue holder. BUT, I don't have the part!

So, in probably one of the most gripping posts in recent memory, I wonder to the forum lurkers, where could I get the tissue holder that appears to snap into a couple of slots in my armrest? I've looked at the various part websites, and don't find anything available put perhaps the entire console lid.

With cold and flu season approaching, this might become urgent.....

The tissue holder is underneath the armrest itself:

The little slots on the front is for the coin holder (sorry I don't have a pic of this). It holds quarters, nickels and dimes.

Yep, I've got the coin holder; it's the tissue box "tray" you've pictured that my armrest doesn't have...

There are several slots in the underside of the armrest where it looks like this part snaps in. all the parts sites I've looked at have the parts schematic you referenced, but I don't see a tissue holder...

So you're missing the part that sharp4runr's light is attached to in his picture? If that's what you're missing you may have to buy the entire console lid to get the part.

That's exactly the the part I'm missing...and I didn't even know I was missing it until I saw some threads in the forum!

I assume that the part won't be available on it's on, but if I find myself at the stealership anytime, I might ask them anyway...

Maybe they sell a different piece? What year/model is your 4runner?

If it's missing, then I'd consider it a warranty claim and have the dealer get it for you.

However, finding a box of Kleenex to fit it was a real pain. The ones we found have to be coerced into place. So I don't find it particularly useful. My $0.02.

If you do find the right size, buy all they have! The box is 4 7/8" by 5 7/8" by 1 1/2" deep.

Is this a part they discontinued for '05? Can someone with an '05+ verify they have it?

I'm emailing Partznet just to see if they might be able to order the "tissue holder" part....not expecting much...

The center console "lid assembly" is $103.14....a bit steep to hold a box of Kleenex!

I have it and it works great. the box i have is snug so it doesn't rattle

My parents 06 has one. The little boxes of tissue at walmart fit right in there too.
I think it works great, been using it in my 04 for awhile now.

That little piece does come off, so if anything see if any wrecking yards have any 4th Gens. If they do, I'm sure it's still there. Most people dont' even know what it is.

My 03 definitley has this and I've found it quite useful a couple times especially if you get fingerprints on a window or can't reach the glove box for a napkin kind of thing. I agree with Cdoyle on the wal-mart deal. I actually got mine in the "Travel" section (Where the small bottles of toothpaste, mouthwash, and deoderant are) of Target and it appears they had plenty in stock. Good luck with your search. I felt left out when I didn't have a Scion radio like everyone here I can only image how you feel.

I have it but never use it. Never found the right size tissue box to fit just right. I just store my cap there, just fold it up and stuff it in there. The brim holds itself in place.

Go to Walmart, they have travel tissue boxes at the checkstands. They are made by Kleenex, and they fit perfectly in that slot.

I think they are 1.99 or something like that.
